Thanks I'd figured I would check in the Morrisons where I do my weekly shopping and found that they had them there so I managed to get enough tokens to use the offer a couple of times.

Great work - From the northern website the papers that you would be able to get round Nottingham stopped having the vouchers in last Sunday - but others from the Iconic Group (lots of local papers across yorks and lancs etc) will have them in until 14 May - so you could use a voucher you already have to go somewhere where you can pick up copies of those papers before that date whilst on your day out and have plenty of extra tokens to last you through until end of the offer in mid July - should you so wish

see the dates against all the papers listed on this page here - to see when vouchers will still be printed in the relevant papers (many of which are only weekly) - but of course you can buy multiple copies of the paper on the day the vouchers are printed.

Thanks, I was trying to work out a way of getting from Nottingham to Carlisle and back in a day with just the ranger ticket but I don't think it's doable. Not via the Settle and Carlisle anyway which is what I was hoping for...

It is on a Saturday and possibly Sunday or indeed bank holiday Mondays because you can start early with the ranger tickets than you can on a weekday.

Pick longer daylight days too.

I’ve done it out and back in the past or a circular trip. Out to Carlisle, round Cumbrian coast, barrow to Manchester then to Sheffield then rtn to Nottingham.

On that circular itinerary there was no time to hang about at stations tho so take your packed lunch and drinks!

06.17 Nottingham to Leeds on a Saturday. Plenty of time to get 09.18 off Leeds for Carlisle. And even get breakfast in Leeds between trains. Or find more vouchers at Leeds station newsagent or nearby station

Or you can go later and get as far as Appleby then head back.

I now recall I did it on a Sunday when there was the Nottingham to Carlisle through train which returned to Nottingham. Sundays only. Don’t think that diagram exists any more on Sundays though.

It’s worth looking at or printing the pdf timetables from northern web to get an idea of the serve pattern on the settle to Carlisle to see what connections can be made.

It's certainly doable from Nottingham on a Sunday so long as you don't hang about anywhere and there's no disruption (unless it's on the way South).
You only get about 40 minutes at Carlisle, but should be in time for the 1909 from Leeds to Nottingham - or wait at Leeds (or break your journey between Skipton and Leeds) for one of the two trains after that.

So v tight if any delay.

It was cut back to start at Sheffield (at exactly the same time (from Sheffield) as the first service from Nottingham to Leeds at the moment (1017)).

If the northbound is running a bit late, get out at Armathwaite and wait for the southbound there. The bit between there and Carlisle isn't the most spectacular anyway.

You could, indeed - there's some reasonable EMR advances with a few weeks' notice.

Yes, that would work well actually
and give you about 90 mins in Carlisle before the direct Nottm return train - enough time to stretch legs and stock up on refreshments for the return trip

I would think on the earliest EMR Nottingham to Sheffield trains the Advance fares would be fairly cheap - looking now for this Sunday it's £8.20 on the 08.30 from Nottm to Sheffield

Rtn day trip on the S&C for under £25 total is not bad - and total flexibility with the ranger on Northern after Sheffield on the day

Ranger Tickets Vouchers have to be bought at ticket offices with the vouchers and the downloadable printed form - so could do that in Nottingham station (if open early on sunday mornings) or in Sheffield when you change

I presume you mean Tickets rather than vouchers? The vouchers are in the newspapers.

You can purchase the tickets in advance, not just the day of travel. I have done so in the past.
