Not the best of trips to the North East for my little red pen, maybe the next visit in August might be better for winners and not having random 30 minute gaps in services. Got lucky with 023 as I had a stroll along the River Thames between Kew Bridge & Putney and it was due on a Windsor service a few minutes after arrival. Sadly the other 3 active 701s I need weren't out today (neither was the latest 730/2).

Just back from my first lengthy foreign jaunt of the year - a 10 day sweep starting with Eurostar to Brussels then through Germany and Czechia and finishing in Vienna.

The availability of various gen systems (bahn.expert in Germany, the "Sledovani" spreadsheets for Czechia) make finding winners easier, as does Siemens' continued delivery of Vectrons to ČD (among others)!

Plenty of highlights, including the Ruhr RE3 TRAXX hire-ins for ersatzzug working and 743208 on the Bohumín portion shunt between EC131 and EC114. However the biggest highlight was by luck - Saturday 18th in Stuttgart and noticed a solo Class 218 going on to the depot. Putting two-and-two together we reckoned this was the loco off IC2012 which should be a pair. It goes on to work IC2013 forward from Stuttgart to Oberstdorf - a check on bahn.expert showed this was formed of 9 coaches. The load limit southbound for a single 218 over the hills between Stuttgart and Ulm is 6 cars, and 218406 duly backed on on its own. Our hunch was rewarded when we stopped at Geislingen West for the purpose of taking on a banking locomotive up the Geislinger Steige. DB Cargo's 185172 buffered up to the rear to bank the train up the hill to Amstetten - big, big winner!

Anyway the list of required locos and power cars had over the trip was...

Ah good. It does actually exist, gives me an excuse to head underground the next time I'm in Glasgow with time to kill. Break out the deckchair at one of the island platform stations South of the river to see if it pops up.

I had initially only planned to get 038 scored, however I checked before heading down for the train to get it. When I realised 032 was an option if I went to Abergavenny on 038, with a +43 connection, I just had to go for it.

Three 197s remain to get (039/040/041) now, plus AT04 whenever that makes an appearance again. That would then clear the long distance TfW fleet again, leaving the 398s to *eventually* get the attention of my red pen!
