It does make you wonder if they had persevered with the 769s and all the turbos had moved west all the hassle and the improvement to services would have happened sooner.
Why are the Wolverton to Laira trips routed via Acton rather than Oxford? Wouldn't this be shorter/quicker/cheaper and easier to path?
Presumably the 175s aren't cleared on EWR for this to happen? I doubt many things are yet.
Fairly certain on summer weekend they may be asked similarly.

Even more interestingly, on the Rolling Stock Guide contents page the 175 is erroneously labelled as a 'Sprinter DMU'!
Why not? There will be a requirement for six trains on weekdays, five on Saturdays and three on Sundays from Mid May. This should be achievable given that there are around 5 sets out daily at present, albeit some on training duties.
Th 158s will not be able to stay at Bristol to strengthen services there. Still be needed for Barnstaple. A 175 was to be used on the Newquay branch for the hourly service. The 150s can't cover everything.
Out of interest how many 175 diagrams are there now? With Newquay going hourly later in May more units be needed to run services.
Yes they have on one-off occasions such as when the marches is closed or unit unavailability like in this video from October 2021
The 175's aren't due to go on the Barnstaple line in May anyway, hardly any Exeter drivers sign them yet.
The cab windows were at best difficult to open from a sitting position in the drivers seat, and at worst impossible (it depended on how stiff they were). I never worked a 175 down the HOWL, but given you'd have to get out of the seat both to open and close the window and get enough reach out to get the string, I would imagine it would be easier to just open the cab door and lean out instead.
