Hi im doing a Pub crawl Windermere to Wigan on Saturday can anyone tell me how much the train fare is from Wigan-Windermere return and if i can get on off as i please been told its a real ale crawl or summat but baring in mind im a cider or cyder drinker this could be hell for me.

Departing after 10am from Northwestern if that helps... then as many pubs on way back to Wigan...

Is there any group discounts as 8+ are going?

Also a o/t question....
what are cumbrian pubs like for showing rugby league is it still a popular sport there as plan on watching it in one of the pubs if possible otherwise wifi/3g may be abused...

I have checked a ticket booking site (e.g. East Coast) and this tells me that an Off Peak Day Return costs £15.40.

Break of journey is permitted on any Off Peak ticket, except for the outward portion of some Off Peak tickets, and where this happens it must be "made clear" by the train company in their notices and publications. Additionally, this is a Day ticket and therefore no such prohibition should apply. I can confirm that yes it's fine to break your journey as many times as you want.

There are no time restrictions on Saturdays anyway, so an Off Peak Day Return will suffice to leave at any time.

To qualify for a "Group Booking" TPE require 10 people, call them if the number will be 10 or more.

If your group has ten or more people then you may be eligible for a discount. Due to the complexities of group travel we are unable to offer group bookings through our website. Please contact our Group Travel Department on 0845 600 1674.

There does not appear to be any option for smaller groups (e.g. GroupSave) for this flow.

Also would think you will be fine to watch RL in the pubs. As long as they have a goggle box.

I would think that in Windermere/Bowness, the chances of Rugby League being on would be poor (but theres nothing to stop you asking), but in Barrow/Whitehaven/Workington it would be a different story.

Thanks for that everyone... and hopefully we will be back in Preston by the the time the Leagues on then as i know a few good pubs in Preston that will show the Rugby

Also off/topic post anyone got any good rail pubs Between Windermere and Wigan other than preston i dont know any... :s as close to the station as possible

Would i be able to group discount with TPE if im partially travelling with Virgin/Northern as TPE dont properly serve Wigan-Preston apart from one or two journies a day.

Phone 0845 600 1674 and see what they can do. Providing the tickets are routed "Any Permitted" then you can use any operator. If TPE issue tickets that are routed "TPE Only" then you can't. I don't know of anyone who has bought TPE group tickets so I don't know what they are issued as, but ask TPE and they can advise.
