Came across an older thread (Strange destinations in Southern PIS) that had a link to a YouTube video of a 377 with Newhaven Marine, New Milton, Pokesdown, Rugby, etc. programmed in the PIS.
Some companies had released their announcement audio files through FOI so made a list of what's included there. This will be updated, so feel free to add any unusual destinations if any are missing.

c2c
Lakeside (alternate station name for Chafford Hundred? named internally LKS)
Canvey Island (never a station but is named internally CVI - previously Canvey in the script)

The following stations are in Alsthom's announcement script but are not included as audio.
Barking Reach / Chafford Lakeside / Forest Gate / Gravesend / Maryland / Romford / Southchurch / Southend Victoria / Stepney / Stepney East / Tilbury Riverside / Thurrock

A snippet of "We Will Find It" and "Space is Fun" is used as audio test music.

Caledonian Sleeper
Oban / Finsbury Park / Peterborough / Doncaster / York / Newcastle / Milton Keynes Central can be programmed on the PIS
London Kings Cross is used as a diversion for engineering works

Chiltern Railways
Quainton Road / Calvert / Brackley Central / Rugby Central / Leicester Central / Belgrave & Birstall / Rothley / Quorn & Woodhouse / Loughborough Central / Ruddington / Nottingham Arkwright Street / Nottingham Victoria / Chesterfield Central / Sheffield Victoria (can be displayed on 168/170/172s)
London Paddington / West Ealing (used to be served as Parliamentary train)

Cross Country
Voyagers can display anything through a free-text input on the TMS
Weymouth was served by Voyagers during the 2012 Olympics

East Midlands Railway
222s could be programmed for Alfreton / Barnsley / Beeston / Burton-on-Trent / Cleethorpes / Crewe / Doncaster / Erewash / Grantham / Howden / Hull / Ilkeston / Langley Mill / Leeds / Lincoln / London King's Cross / Matlock / Scarborough / Selby / Skegness / Wakefield Westgate / York through TMS

Elizabeth Line
Gas Factory Junction can be programmed in the PIS but no audio file exists

Eurostar
374s can be programmed for some destinations in the UK, such as Preston and Blackpool North.

Greater Anglia
TBC

Great Northern
The Class 365s are revealed to still have old announcements, including when they were in service with Connex Southeastern. See Class 365 PBC Unit and PIS system.

Great Western Railway
A few route codes exist for Bicester Town (since renamed Bicester Village and served by Chiltern) for the 165/166 Turbos
London Euston (diversions for HS2)
London Marylebone / London Waterloo (not sure if it exists for IETs - Window labels do exist for HSTs)
A couple of 51xx codes exist for Brighton (since cut in May 2022)
Sampford Courtenay (now a disused station on Dartmoor Railway - is programmed on 165/166 Turbo)
West Somerset Railway stations Norton Fitzwarren / Bishops Lydeard / Crowcombe Heathfield / Stogumber / Williton / Doniford Halt / Watchet / Washford / Blue Anchor / Dunster / Minehead (used when GWR ran Castle sets on this line, this is also in the 150/158 database)
Newquay can be programmed on a 165/166 Turbo and presumably other Cornwall destinations Penzance / St Erth / St Ives / Liskeard / Looe / Par / Gunnislake / Truro / Falmouth Docks
Plymouth has been done on a 165 / 166 Turbo before (one during a blockade and more recently vice IET)
Weymouth (could this be progammed on an IET?)

Heathrow Connect
Acton Main Line (rarely used as being 1tpd)

LNER
Loads of stations not served by LNER are included in the audio files:
Birmingham International / Birmingham New Street / Bishop Auckland / Bury St Edmunds / Boston / Chesterfield / Cleethorpes / Derby / Deighton / Ely / Filey / Gainsborough Lea Road / Grimsby Town / Goole / Hexham / Ipswich / Leicester / Manchester Piccadilly / MetroCentre / March / Meadowhall / Mirfield / Malton / Nottingham / Norwich / Oakham / Pickering / Redcar Central / Scarborough / Scunthorpe / Seamer / Sheffield / Skegness / Saltburn / Sleaford / Stowmarket / Stanford-le-Hope / Stafford / Thirsk / Thetford / Worksop / Whitby
There is another set of stations that include annotations. These range from various routes, diversions and future route potentials, such as Croy / Carstairs / Falkirk High Glasgow Queen Street / Lenzie being marked as "Possible Future Route to Glasgow".
Obviously all East Coast Main Line stations as well as stations between Edinburgh and Aberdeen/Inverness (even small stations) are included in the case of LNER making additional calls there.

London Overground
Battersea Park (served as parliamentary train but also when service disruption/engineering works occur at Clapham Junction)
Surrey Canal Road (planned station but hasn't been built - now planned to be named Surrey Canal. named internally SYC)
Stations on the Gospel Oak - Barking route are included in the 378 - this actually happened in 2019 as the delivery of the 710s were delayed.

London Underground
Bank/Waterloo (The 1992 Stock on the Central line can display those destinations as it shares the database with the Waterloo & City line. Displaying Central line destinations can't be done as the 92 stock on the W&C have Bank/Waterloo fixed onto the display)
Charing Cross (Jubilee Line - still programmed on 1996TS)
Ealing Broadway/Chiswick Park/Stamford Brook/Ravenscourt Park (Piccadilly Line trains serve this station when engineering works happen on the District Line)
West Kensington/High Street Kensington (Piccadilly Line 1973 stock have this in the database)
Depots and Sidings (Ruislip Siding, Northfields Depot etc) are surprisingly recorded for the 1973 stock
Ongar (Central Line - Drivers can set the headcode 999 for the 1992 stock to display Ongar. On refurbished units, there's an Easter Egg on the PIS that tells the fact "the Central line service to Ongar was closed on the 30th March 1994" though it was actually 30th September 1994)
S Stocks are believed to have Watford Junction in the database

Northern
The 319 TrainFX appears to have FGW/GWR announcements loaded in (the voice of Faye D.)
The test announcement has Happy Days Intro as the music.

ScotRail
Glasgow Airport (planned rail link that got cancelled in 2009)

Southern/FCC
Wandsworth Road / Clapham High Street / Denmark Hill (used to be served when Southern services ran on the South London Line - audio files are the same as Southeastern)
Kings Cross Thameslink (never used on a 377, closed 2007)
London Charing Cross (not served by Southern since 2009)
London Waterloo (used as audio file for Waterloo East - said station not served by Southern since 2009)
Newhaven Marine (not used since 2006)
Smitham (not used when renamed to Coulsdon Town in May 2011)
Stations between St Pancras International-St Albans had always(?) been 319s so those would never be heard on a 377 - Kentish Town / Cricklewood / Hendon / Mill Hill Broadway / Elstree & Borehamwood / Radlett
Herne Hill - Gillingham (FCC used to serve this route until 2009 when it was cutback to Rochester then 2014 when this was axed[?] - the audio files are the same as Southeastern)
Herne Hill - Ashford International (now exclusively served by Southeastern - audio files are the same except Ashford International)
Barbican / Moorgate (never used on a 377, closed 2009)
Leatherhead / Bookham / Effingham Junction / Horsley / Clandon / London Road Guildford / Guildford (now served by SWR)
Sutton Loop (now served by Thameslink)
Stations west of Southampton Central: Millbrook / Redbridge / Totton / Ashurst New Forest / Beaulieu Road / Brockenhurst / Sway / New Milton / Hinton Admiral / Christchurch / Pokesdown / Bournemouth was the old South Central route in 2001 (SWR serves this route)
Milton Keynes Central / Northampton / Rugby was the old South Central route until 2002 (now served by LNWR)
Hemel Hempstead / Berkhamsted / Tring / Leighton Buzzard / Bletchley / Milton Keynes Central used to be served by Southern until May 2022 (now served by LNWR)
Swaythling, Hedge End and Botley are likely not programmable on any Southern train (served by SWR)
Southampton Airport Parkway can only be heard as an announcement on a 377
455s had Blackfriars / Charing Cross / Effingham Junction / Guildford / Smitham / Waterloo etc as destination blinds
The Class 313 TrainFX have ATW and prototype FGW announcements loaded in. Southampton Central/Eastleigh/Haywards Heath is probably the rarest destinations that can be programmed in, not counting Newhaven Marine. Cooksbridge, Hassocks, Burgess Hill and the rest of the Southern network are not included. Southampton Airport Parkway is there but no audio is included. Only two route codes exist for Preston Park as a calling point (Littlehampton-Brighton + return) and also only two for one way Haywards Heath-Seaford (one omitting Plumpton as a calling point)

Southeastern
City Thameslink (old Southeastern route in 2009 now only served by Thameslink)
Eynesford / Shoreham (now only served by Thameslink)
East Croydon / Redhill (served by diverted Hastings trains)
Folkestone Harbour (never used for 375, closed 2001)
Norwood Junction / Purley / Coulsdon South / Merstham / Gatwick Airport / Three Bridges / Crawley / Ifield / Faygate / Littlehaven / Horsham / Nutfield / Godstone / Edenbridge(?) / Penshurst / Leigh - old Southeastern route, never used for 375
London Waterloo (recorded 2017 for the diversions)
Wandsworth Road / Clapham High Street (used to be served as Parliamentary train)
395s have Chestfield & Swalecliffe / Cuxton / Halling / Snodland / New Hythe / Aylesford / Maidstone Barracks (Snodland is served by peak hour services to/from Maidstone West. These are the same recordings used for the 375)
395s once had audio files for stations not used by them such as stations on the Chatham Main Line, including the Dover branch, South Eastern Main Line, Maidstone East line that otherwise normally served by 375/377 or in the case of Metro stations, Networkers/Thameslink - note Chestfield & Swalecliffe is mispronounced as "Chesterfield & Swalecliffe" - and two variations of Eynesford one correctly pronounced and one as "Eye-nsford" - This is since been deleted as the files sent through FOI won't be present there.

Addiscombe closed May 1997 therefore no audio/PIS exists for that station
(?) Station was served as an additional call, but whether it was added to the PIS is unknown

South Western Railway
158/159s have Weymouth/Corfe Castle when SWR previously ran services direct from Waterloo via Yeovil. GWR destinations can be programmed due to the fact SWR when SWT loaned their 158/159s occassionally to FGW/GWR.
450s previously ran to Brighton (can this still be programmed?)
Not PIS related but 455s have Kensington/Olympia, Horsham and West Croydon on destinstion blinds. Basingstoke/Haslemere had been done in passenger service
With 444, sharing the database with the 450, you could program a 444 to a destination they can't reach such as Reading, Lymington.
458s can be programmed for Lymington, Alton, Haslemere, the latter two they used to be allocated to one of the services.
701s can programmed for every SWR station, including non-electrified lines such as Salisbury, Yeovil and Exeter

It's revealed that some GWR and XC stations are in the database since the same Elinor Hamilton recordings for the PIS are used for some of the stations

Transport for Wales
TBC

West Midlands Trains
Ashchurch for Tewkesbury / Cheltenham Spa / Gloucester (old London Midland route)
Wembley Central (not served by LNWR since December 2022)
The Southern announcements for the Milton Keynes - East Croydon route are programmed on the 350s but I don't think they have ever been used. These are labelled as "London Midland audio". Sound files 9870-9872 are currently used by Greater Anglia.
The Overground stations are in the database for the 172s
Class 172s have audio files for stations north of Crewe - Warrington Bank Quay / Wigan North Western / Preston
All trains have Stourbridge Town despite this station only being served by Parry People Mover which doesn't have announcements. 172s use the sound file as part of the interchange at Stourbridge Junction.

Class 158/159
When built, these had national set of destination codes, so you could program a destination like "Thurso" on a Northern 158 as long as you know the 3-digit code for it. (Has this changed when they were switched to LEDs?)

Class 185/350/444/450
On this Class which have ANNAX displays, it is possible to add custom messages - an example where some guards puts the route headcode and then destination. There are a few instances where something different would display such as:
NAN (Not a Number)
Manual Messages

Class 700/707/717
These have most if not all Thameslink/Southern/Southeastern/Great Northern stations except Brent Cross West which isn't programmed on the 707
Thanet Parkway isn't not programmed on the 700/717 (TBC)
Ruislip Lido stations Willow Lawn / Haste Hill / Eleanors Junction / Woody Bay are included in the database with audio announcements
Couple of EMR stations such as East Midlands Parkway and Derby are also in the database with audio announcements
Hogesmeade and Walford East can be programmed but no audio announcements
Class 707s when at SWR can be programmed for Southampton, which actually did during one of the strikes.

Up the creek
Not in the PIS, but on the old blinds. I believe that early on at least some Class 319 had Milton Ernest on the end destination blinds. I think I read that at the time they were being built there was a plan to extend electrification from Bedford to a new station at Milton Ernest; I can’t remember if it was a new town or a parkway station.

Milton Ernest’s only claim to fame is that its hotel was the last place that Glenn Miller was seen in public before he flew out of nearby Twinwood Farm. Yarl’s Wood Immigration Detention Centre is in the parish, but they probably keep quiet about that.

• The 165/168/172 at Chiltern Railways can display Quainton Road / Calvert / Brackley Central / Rugby Central / Leicester Central / Belgrave & Birstall / Rothley / Quorn & Woodhouse / Loughborough Central / Ruddington / Nottingham Arkwright Street / Nottingham Victoria / Chesterfield Central / Sheffield Victoria on both the interior screens and exterior screens as seen from 00:04 here:

• The 150/158 at GWR can display and announce all of the West Somerset Railway stations of Norton Fitzwarren / Bishops Lydeard / Crowcombe Heathfield / Stogumber / Williton / Doniford Halt / Watchet / Washford / Blue Anchor / Dunster / Minehead as seen from 15:06 here:

• The 700 has the Ruislip Lido Railway stations of Willow Lawn / Haste Hill / Eleanors Junction / Woody Bay on the PIS including announcements recorded for them.

• Irish Rail 22000/29000 both have Poyntzpass programmed in to the PIS and announcements recorded despite the fact that they have never called there.

• Heathrow Connect 360 had Acton Main Line programmed in to the PIS and announcememts which was rather rare although there was always one train a day booked to call in later years.

• Also just to point out that both 377/2 and 377/5 units have been to Barbican and Moorgate before it closed so it is likely that those recordings were used in real life for a short period.

I remember seeing a picture of a Tyne & Wear Metro unit displaying Doncaster on its destination display - the units having gone there for refurbishment

Milton Keynes-East Croydon - the Southern announcements are programmed on the 350s but I don't think they have ever been used

Southern did loan some 350s for that service from London Midland at the time, I believe it was during 2009. If those stations are still there on the database for WMT, I'd imagine they kept the same list of stations for when the announcements were re-done.

How did this happen
It was put in as a joke for the last time Chiltern ran a 165 from West Ealing to West Ruislip.

I've seen Chiltern units with Coventry, Birmingham International, Birmingham New Street, Reading, Didcot Parkway, Shrewsbury, Wrexham General, Bridgnorth SVR and Kidderminster SVR on the front before too.

I once saw Saltash on the side of an LNER class 80x at Leeds. I am guessing all trains from the Intercity Express Programme have all GWR and LNER destinations in their PIS

Did forget the Ruislip Lido stations in the database.

There is a pic of a 377 in Moorgate but that was months after its closure to passenger services. The first recorded 377 on Thameslink I could find is just 3 days after Moorgate closed for FCC.

Southern did loan some 350s for that service from London Midland at the time, I believe it was during 2009. If those stations are still there on the database for WMT, I'd imagine they kept the same list of stations for when the announcements were re-done.

It's at the end of their audio phrase list. It seems unfinished as all of those stations bar Imperial Wharf and Shepherds Bush are the alternate Southern recordings. Interestingly 9870-9872 are the recordings currently used for Greater Anglia.

For some reason which I’ve never got an explanation when they updated the TrainFX PIS with an announcement about bodyworn cameras they removed the NIS Pis code which was 0015, if you type 9999 it brings up Minehead however, there are no announcements

Vaguely remember years ago that you could occasionally see 158 units on long layovers in Edinburgh with nonsense such as Paris Nord or Berlin Hauptbahnhof displayed on the electronic destination screen.

I have seen photos of a 374 unit displaying Blackpool North on the PIS screens.

20260418_171537.jpg

20260418_171541.jpg

Presumably somebody just programmed that for a bit of fun as there is zero chance that a 374 will ever end up there.

I’d love a pic of that if there’s any going about

East Croydon/Redhill (served by diverted Hastings trains)
Folkestone Harbour (never used for 375, closed 2001)
Norwood Junction, Purley, Coulsdon South, Merstham, Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Crawley, Ifield, Faygate, Littlehaven, Horsham - old Southeastern route, never used for 375
London Waterloo (recorded 2017 for the diversions)
Wandsworth Road (used to be served as Parliamentary train)
395s have audio files for stations not used by them such as Bromley South, Herne Hill, Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Beckenham Junction etc.

South Western Railway
158/159s have Weymouth/Corfe Castle when SWR previously ran services direct from Waterloo via Yeovil. They are believed to have destinations such as London Paddington, Paignton and Plymouth in the database
Not PIS related but 455s have Kensington/Olympia, Horsham and West Croydon on destinstion blinds. Basingstoke/Haslemere had been done in passenger service
701s can display every SWR station, including Yeovil and Exeter

It's revealed that some GWR and XC stations are in the database since the same Elinor Hamilton recordings for the PIS are used for some of the stations

West Midlands Trains
Ashchurch for Tewkesbury (old London Midland route)
Cheltenham Spa (old London Midland route)
Gloucester (old London Midland route)
Wembley Central (not served by LNWR since December 2022)
Milton Keynes-East Croydon - the Southern announcements are programmed on the 350s but I don't think they have ever been used

Class 700/707/717
These have most if not all Thameslink/Southern/Southeastern/Great Northern stations except Brent Cross West which isn't programmed on the 707
Thanet Parkway are not programmed on either 700/707/717.
Ruislip Lido stations and couple of EMR stations also included in the database
The 158 and 159 would also have files for when they use to run to Brighton, Paignton, Plymouth and Penzance prior to 2010.

Also London Overground has Battersea Park for parliamentary service.

Southeastern 395s serve Snodland during peak times.

South Western Railway use Change at Oxford for services to Bicester Town.

700s have 'Hogsmeade' and 'Walford East', alongside a whole host of Southern destinations, some of which Thameslink never went to and probably never will.

700s have 'Hogsmeade'
I doubt they would be able to fit a 700 in Goathland station, even if it's an 8 car! I feel like there might also be a problem with the fact that there's no wires/third rail there aswell...

This will get updated so feel free to add any unusual destinations if any missing.

158s/450s previously ran to Brighton
In addition to a selection of currently served stations not normally used as termini for use during engineering works etc, the 158/159 list also includes places such as Bristol Temple Meads, Brockenhurst, Lymington Pier, Paignton, Plymouth and Totton where the SWT/SWR diesel fleet have regularly worked terminating services too in the past.

Further to that, it also includes a selection of off-network stations such as Bristol Parkway, Cheltenham Spa, Chippenham, Exmouth, Gloucester, Great Malvern, Severn Beach, Swindon, Taunton, Weston-super-Mare and Worcester Shrub Hill. These saw use during the periods where SWT were regularly hiring units to GWR.

The 222s still have all the old MML stations in (to Leeds, Scarborough, Burton, Matlock, Barnsley, Erewash stations and all stations to Lincoln) if you modify the trips in the TMS

Elizabeth Line trains still have Gas Factory Junction on their PIS system. Its a holding point located on the bow curve junction near startford and London Liverpool street station.

Early on it used to come on during passenger service if a train came out of Sidings etc and a few passengers found it amusing. Think there was a video of it doing so somewhere.F1U7CZdaAAMjbqm.jpg

Arterios can indeed show places it can't go. Here's a picture of it saying Exeter St D.

378s also have GOBLIN stations on there from the time the line was electrified but 710s weren't ready yet, and 172s were getting withdrawn, so three shortened 378s went there.

Are the Great Central stations programmed into the Chiltern units a joke or was there some slim chance of possibility that the route would have been reopened?
By the time those units were introduced, some major structures had been demolished, including Brackley viaduct (in 1978). I can't imagine there was ever any possibility of rebuilding those structures even if a need for the line had been accepted. .

What are you telling me Blackpool isn't number one on the list for the expansion of Eurostar??
I mean even if it was Eurostar's highest priority they'd need different rolling stock, the 374s have a bit of a gauging issue!
