Ahhh ok, not surprised by that. Presumably 67015+HD01 will do 1W13/1V39/1W61/1V62 in that case, with a 197 doing 1W55/1V42/1W63.
Correct, thats the plan unless anything else happens between now and then!

Then Sunday only musters 1 diagram, the Crewe start/finish as it stands.

Thanks. That Sunday Crewe start/finish (1W00/1V70/1W60) will probably be 67010+HD07 then! Hopefully there won't be anymore unwanted chaos for the rest of the week... though I highly doubt that'll be the case.

No. Out of use into next week due to the vandalism damage so just the 1 set off Crewe and 1 off Cardiff tomorrow.
Is the one set in use from Crewe tomorrow, definitely doing the ECS to Manchester, to form 1V33 ?

Is there any sense of when we might have 5 sets out again?

I note that 1W11 was a 3-car 197 again today, leaving just 2-car for 1W12. This was the same yesterday. I am watching nervously with a need to use these trains next week.

5 have been out since this afternoon so its planned to be normal again.
Although it does require 5 from 5 for now.

1W61 is going to be cosy. They seem to have borrowed a 197 from 1W20 as well as that is going north as 2 carriages. If that stays the same then both the 17:30 and 18:30 south from Manchester will be 2-car 197s.

I know TfW are not responsible for Manchester commuting, but there needs to be some mechanism to encourage TfW to get more carriages onto these trains, especially the 17:30. The 18:30 is at least capable of being 2-car south of Shrewsbury.

18:30 from Manchester will be swapped in a Mk4 at Crewe on the way up.

So this would now make it 2 sets in Cardiff tonight?

Will 1V50 need chopping back to CDF to allow for the usual issue of not having two sets (the ECS, plus the 18:30 from Manchester) arriving into Cardiff at the same time to go onto Canton?

It’s always been the case on a Saturday, diagrams have always had the Swansea run, and V62 run, both as Mk4s.

I never travel Saturdays, but two arriving back at Canton at a similar time is the reasoning given for the 16:30 not running through to Swansea any more.

I know, it is an odd anomaly but they both run as Mk4s on a Saturday and arrive at a similar time, I can only imagine there’s a couple less unit diagrams on a Saturday so there is less going on at Canton thus making it easier to accept than in the week.

Had an amusing experience yesterday - after planning my travel based on what should have been Mk4s, and checking on RealTimeTrains that it actually was, when I turned up at the station the screens were warning of a 3 car train with no first class and reduced catering. Though the train diagram showed 5 coaches.

Fortunately RTT was right and they were wrong which was a nice surprise after the less welcome one.

How is the catering done at the moment? The buffet counter was closed but people were being served from a trolley next to it. It looked as if people in first class were being served something from the kitchen though.

I've never been sure what they do on weekends - the TfW information doesn't seem to suggest anything different to weekdays, but then it also claims that there is zero catering in standard class so I don't trust it very much.
