The afternoon layover was a pain, especially on a Sunday. I caught the afternoon bus back one day last year and we got to Pickering and everyone was turfed off the bus for half an hour, at a time when just about everything was closed and there was sod all to do while waiting (and it wasn't a particularly warm day). I managed to get a takeaway cup of tea and a muffin from Costa, as being the only place that was open when we arrived (although it was just about to close), while most people just huddled in the bus shelter until the driver eventually let us all back on board.
I thought that the afternoon break was to connect with the then-128 as we'd never leave before it got there
I wonder if the half an hour was to comply with driving hours rules
If they want to offer a connection with the 28 then why not start the journey from Danby 25 minutes later – gives people more time to explore the area or look around the visitor centre while they're there, where there actually is something to do, the buses can still meet in Pickering for a 2-way connection (Danby to Scarborough, and Helmsley to Hull) but without the waiting-around-with-nothing-to-do.
That was also what I understood to be the case talking to the drivers last year

100% will happen. The company wants to get the most out of the vehicles and will end up on a lot of other routes, including the X46/X47 to see how electrics perform on long distance services. Especially on Sundays when PVR is reduced. And why not, they’re not route branded!

Serves a larger population, the Avenues etc. Without the need to catch another bus.
They've allowed an extra 3 minutes running time between Hull Paragon and Cottingham, which seems like a small price to pay for bringing more potential passengers within easy walking distance.
Indeed - back in the day when there were two buses to the moors from Hull one went via Cottingham and the other took the normal Hull - Beverley route via Dunswell which meant the busy stops at the north end of Beverley Road in Hull were served. On a personal note, the 111 from Kingswood arrives in Beverley at the exact time the M1 leaves so I can see me making a few attempts at a very tight connection! Of course it's never possible to connect with everything, but the 111 serves much of East Hull so would have been a good feeder route.
Should be getting the EY livery, although possibly with North Riding branding as they'll be/are Scarborough based. They've had West Yorkshire branding removed and have been replaced with East Yorkshire branding above the doors. They've been helping out on Scarborough Park & Ride services since transferring.

And there is a connection from Helmsley, it just involves hanging around for a bit in Pickering.

The 15 in York is being run from Sheriff Hutton, not Pocklington. Morse Coaches already stations Three EY vehicles (2 for 81/194 and 1 for 80/31X + afternoon Y12) so Morse requires a fourth vehicle for the 15 which now runs daily as of yesterday. These services are operated using EY drivers. Buses from Scarborough and Pocklington rotate through Morse on a semi-regular basis for maintenance and what not.

Staying for now by the looks of it. In terms of age it should be 712-21 going but 901-10 haven't been very reliable even after conversion to diesel
Ironically 20722's last duty (as per Bustimes) was stepping in to replace another broken down much younger E400MMC on the X46. I'll miss the Centro's; really comfortable buses and certainly not showing their age after the refurb.
The MMCs have proved to be far from reliable as of the last few months on the X46/X47 unfourtunately. Its becoming quite common to see B9s helping out.
The destination blind was correctly displaying "M1 Driffield then Beverley & Hull" when the bus left Pickering for Hull today so seems to have been fixed.
