Traffic Notices and Working Timetables

This page has links to current operational documents, which are all in Adobe 'pdf' format. You will need 'Adobe Reader' on your machine to open these. You can get the Reader from here. (This link will open in a new window).

Although you can just click on a link, the best way to access the document is by right-clicking on the link and choosing 'Save Target As ...'. This will allow you to browse to your machine and select a target location for the download.

It used to be updated weekly, giving traffic notices and working timetables for each day available as a PDF as well as displaying locomotive allocations. It hasn't been updated since the end of October which is unusual. There was also a link to it from the Severn Valley Railway's official website on the Locomotive Roster page, but this link has now been removed.

It would be a shame if they've decided to no longer publish this information as it gave an interesting insight into the railway.

Always looked at this page first if I had a day free & fancied spending the day at the SVR.
Might explain why I’ve not been there for around 3 months

There also used to be a link to a diesel locomotive roster PDF for the full year, available on the Locomotive Roster page on the SVR website. This also appears to have been taken down.

It usually appears at the start of the season and quickly becomes useless as it doesn’t get updated. I understand there’s an official Facebook group for SVR diesels but that it’s rather oddly a private group.

I was considering an Easter SVR visit for the 813/1450 pairing but without public WTTs only their first train of the day can be figured out. Everything else is pure guesswork especially if there are planned loco swaps.

Loss of the WTTs also means the less agile don’t have the real information (arrive and depart) about the time available between trains where they cross.

Allowing operational issues to reduce public information is a surprisingly backward step for such a progressive railway.

Every loco works the first train back from the terminus, unless that train is quite obviously too quick for a runround(less than 10 minutes). There are never planned loco swaps.

There, no "pure guesswork" needed.

The "less agile" should on no account rely on WTT times to make uncommon connections, instead they should inform the train crew.

Happening every day over Easter between CS2 & CS3, swapping steam and diesel at an unspecified time and place. (See screen grab)

Easier if I had access to the unpublished working arrangements that you suggest, but all still very opaque.

Yes, I too was wondering about this. Was thinking of visiting over Easter to have a bash behind 20048, but not sure exactly what services it is running.

The ones labelled 'Diesel' on the timetable, ie 11.45 ex KR and 14.50 ex-BH, 7th to 9th April.

Bridgnorth. CS2 and CS3 are the set diagrams. CS2 is 11.00 ex-KR* and 14.50 ex-BH, CS3 is 11.45 ex-KR and 14.05 ex-BH.

*11.00 is the WTT departure time, 10.55 is the public time.

Change to the diesel roster for tomorrow as 50033 replaces 50049.
50033 now both Sunday and Monday
1145 ex KR 1450 ex BH (1 return trip)

Many thanks.

So, it’s not 1st in/1st out and this week’s loco roster showing a steam/diesel cS2/3 swap (at Bridgnorth?) actually changes nothing and makes the public TT labels correct.

The SVR isn’t making the guesswork easy!

I found the WTT invaluable on my last trip, it's a great shame this information is now being withheld from the public. A backward step from one of my favourite heritage railways. :(

Yes. This is the new normal for table C. S1 says the same (unless otherwise stated), S2 and S3 swap at Bridgnorth and N1 is either the DMU, small steam with a short rake (Saturdays in June I think) or a diesel loco with 6(?) coach rake (May half term and the summer).
