Glad to see the money being put into the station, but not sure the new signage at Norwood junction really works; looks more wild west to me!

It looks as though it may be based on, or at least influenced by, the old LB&SCR style. A bit of Brighton chic.

Well "Norwood Junction" was originally called "Jolly Gardeners Sailor" after the adjacent pub, may be the quirky signage is a nod to station pub heritage name?

Edit to correct pub name

Norwood Junction has been involved with quirky signs before. It was one of a couple selected to have experimental enamel blue and pink toilet signs in the 1960s.

Looks lovely, I'm definitely a fan. I'm always in favour of anything that adds a bit of quirkiness and character.

Also the promotional sign that made out it was one of the Croydon stations.
Before Croydon Council's finances imploded they wanted it renamed to "North Croydon" to better reflect the character of the area, but didn't want to fund the change (others should pay of course!) so that was as far as it got.

Pedant mode: it was the Jolly Sailor back then :)

What happened to the Corporate Identity? (wasn't there a new rail alphabet/typeface?)
The outside looks good - classic Gill Sans, I would guess, but the waiting room sign is dreadful, could have been nicked from any pub... (or saloon in the wild west, as was suggested.)

It was Jolly Sailor or Jolly Sailor Norwood from opening in 1839 to 1846 or 1848, but then Norwood. Resited 80 yards south from 1 June 1859 and renamed Norwood Junction.

Would be better if the bulbs were all the same colour temperature!

There's nothing like a quirky pink toilet, every home should have one...

I'll get me coat.

It might be a better idea to rename West & East Croydon to "South West Norwood Junction" & "South East Norwood Junction", if they wanted to improve the reputation of the area.

Exactly but the old Croydon council people would never get that.
In some ways "Jolly (aka Drunk) Sailor" is a good personification of their spending controls! Renmaming the station back to its original name might serves as a good reminder of the council spendthrift era.

Croydon Council are useless. They've recently lost in court against us, their own residents, and had their LTN schemes deemed illegal.
