However that is a different offer from the previous one posted. That offer is indeed open to "fans" but requires the codes to come directly from a club. Only season ticket holders using this on a match day can use the online form. If that was not the intention, then Northern needs to update the text accompanying the form!

Im a bit confused, where does it specify "season ticket holders"?

I see now that there is an implication of that on the online form, but since there is an option to select 'none' under the club name drop down box that itself implies you hold no season ticket with any club, and yet can still get issued with the codes to access the ability to buy the Ranger. So I assume this isn't in fact linked to club season ticket holders.
Not for the first time would rail industry info be a bit less than crystal clear...

I think it would need to be in the t&cs when booking that you can only use them on match days / had to be a season ticket holder for that to be a clear intention of the offer

The offer is linked directly from the front page of the Northern website. I don't think anyone need have qualms about using the offer.

You should not use that form unless you are a season ticket holder and intend to use the ticket on a match day.

The route by contacting a club appears to be less restrictive, open to anyone who merely considers themselves a self-declared "fan" of the club concerned, and those tickets can also be used on non-match days.

The format of ones I got from the form are
NORSL- followed by 6 alphanumeric characters

given NORSL probably stands for Northern Super League (or something similar) I wouldn't be suprised if the codes don't contain any remnant of their source, and the app doesn't say anything about such restriction, and I doubt the guard would have any remnant whatsoever of this.

@styles reported earlier in the week that they had got codes requested direct from a club, as did another forum member who posted in thread on Monday, @MichaelTrains

They may be able to answer your question re the code format.

Difficult to imagine Northern have set up different systems for different bits of the same offer but it maybe the case.

Northern staff on trains seem to check tickets more than on other tocs. But a lot of that seems to just be scanners checking qr codes, with no visual check of the actual ticket, in the interests of speed I guess.

It is listed as from QNO Nth Origin to QND Nth Destination and is a "Northern Super League Day Ranger". It has a QR code and route "Northern Only" and a restriciton code of B1. Mine is got Monday.

QR code removed. Also doesn't seem to say how many adults are travelling.

It's for 1 adult. It's the same as other eTickets in just saying "Adult" in that field, when there is just one adult. The hyphen below is where the railcard text would go (if this ticket were able to be railcard-discounted).

They will probably think it's a Northern Friends & Family ticket at first as I'm sure those use the same "Northern Origin" and "Northern Destination" codes

Yes, the codes I got from a club were in exactly that format.

I used one of my codes yesterday on 3 different Northern services (all after 9.30) and no conductor (nor the gateline at Leeds) batted an eyelid.

I requested some codes from https://help.northernrailway.co.uk/s/super-league-train-pass this morning but have yet to receive an email in over four hours (I've checked spam etc). I wouldn't let me select none as team, so I choose Wigan, as at least I've been to their ground (albeit to watch football as an away fan).

I’m getting an SSL error on the help site that the form is hosted on, but only on Firefox and Chrome. On Safari on iPhone, then the form loads but emails have not been forthcoming, possibly due to the SSL.

Update 30 mins later: I’ve just messaged Northern on Facebook messenger and they are aware of an issue with the emailing of codes. They took my email address and the marketing team will send me codes.

They are, however, very easy to get!!

It didn't say that earlier! Maybe the person at Northern who is clearly reading this thread can clarify if that restriction also applies on Saturdays?

If so, not that good for getting to a match with a lunchtime kick off.

I would assume not, because the ticket restriction code is B1, which states:

When you buy the ticket in the app, under "ticket restrictions" it says after 9.30am Mon-Fri but all day weekends and bank holidays
