Hazel Grove to Chinley is usually not possible, but occasionally is if a Northern stopper is diverted.

Ashford and Farningham Road is another one. They are neighbouring stations via the HS1 line. They used to get a passenger service passing both but never anything calling at both.

Plenty of examples of this across the Strathclyde network, barring the ones already mentioned.

Newton (Lanark) & Uddingston is one example that springs to mind readily in this respect. One has to double back to Cambuslang and change for a Lanark service.

Ashfield & Springburn is a interesting one, as there is no direct service between them in normal times (a change at Queen St is required). But during the Queen St High Level/Cowlairs Tunnel blockade in 2016, the Maryhill & Queen St-Cumbernauld/Falkirk Grahamston services were joined up for the duration, thus a regular & direct service between the two existed.

The last train Monday to Saturday and the first train on a Sunday go Manchester-Dinting-Hadfield-Glossop. It used to be more common when they ran an enhanced frequency peak service.

There are loads of examples on diversionary routes from main lines. I'd say Newton-le-Willows and Patricroft to Wigan North Western for starters. There's an argument for Durham and Stockton, too.

I was going to say Stockton and Eaglescliffe but it looks like the Sunday parliamentary service from Darlington to Hartlepool is running again.

Berney Arms (counting both directions) has 3 trains per day Mon-Sat and 10 per day on Sunday, all of which call at both of the adjacent stations (Gt. Yarmouth and Reedham). For a station in the middle of nowhere with no road access, personally I think that counts as a regular service (it certainly is on Sundays).

Newark Northgate - Collingham surprised me, indeed it is only early morning and late evening. (Sunday's is actually more frequent)

I know with the increased frequency of Collingham - Newark Castle no-one cares. Newark Northgate - Retford however has no sensible alternative as doubling back at Doncaster / Grantham or travel via Lincoln are not realistic options to anyone with access to a car.

IIRC all trains serving those two stations also stop at the neighbouring stations. “Regular” is not the same as “frequent”. At its most basic, I would suggest it means “timetabled on a repeating pattern” so “Sundays only” counts, but not “on April Fools’ Day only” as that occurs max once in any timetable period.
