Best rolling stock toilets

Some train toilets have pathetically weak hand dryers (usually newer units like 397s and IETS). However a Pendolino has the best one hands down
Infact I'd go as far to say Pendolino toilets are likely some of the best on the network.

They are, IMO, the best on the network in general for everything tbh!

The 158 must have been the worst for that. You'd dry your hands better by lightly breathing on them than that ever managed.

Was that the original one that was like a small car air vent pointing horizontally with a big round button under it?
They were useless!

Some Polish PESA trains have Dyson airblades in their toilets, which is interesting they have used the best unlike every other rolling stock manufacturer.

Ears ringing when you come out of the cubicle? They are bad enough in a full size toilet!

Are there any hand dryers that are any good on trains? Every single one in my experience has some combination of no heat, low airflow (about as rapid as an asthmatic ant with heavy shopping) or both. What is it with the railway that makes this so difficult?

Actually just thought o& an exception: some German double deck vehicles are good. They get bonus marks for being branded “Airwolf”!

The Eurostar E320 toilets have weirdly slow water release. Indeed there's a notice above the sink, explaining the delay in water coming out!

BR Mk!s. Plenty of room, decent sink, proper soap, paper or roller towels and plenty of natural light. Only the Izal toilet paper let them down.

I do like the new Northern 150 toilets, though maybe the 810s are good too, always clean and fresh because nobody can ever get in them!

Was on a Shinkansen recently and their toilets leave the Uk standing in quality design and cleanliness. I really enjoyed the fact that they have the “Techno 2000’ toilets which are a bidet as well. They also have separate urinal and a Ladies toilet cubicle.

I had an err... "sit down job" on a Translink 4000 earlier. The lavatory was satisfactory enough, but the soap didn't work in either that or the other one. Not ideal!

I’m always surprised at just how much coverage loos appear to get in these various threads over the years! I have been travelling by train regularly since September 1970, but the only time I have ever used a toilet on a train was when travelling on one of the Clacton units between Chelmsford and Colchester in June 1986. Obviously most people need the loo more often than I do!
