Hi everyone,

I'm looking at leaving from FNB after midday on Thu 2nd and coming back on Mon 6th. I have a 16-25 railcard.
Looking to use the SW route to avoid RRBs on the Portsmouth Direct, and I prefer open returns.
BRfares.com has an off-peak return FNB-Cowes West RedJet for £45.60, but no app will sell it on my itinerary, instead insisting on Anytimes for some reason. It seems valid, though. Anyone know why?

It is possible that because it is Easter Red Funnel have ‘temporarily’ reduced or abolished the allocation of various types of tickets. Or maybe they are just taking advantage of those diverting from the Portsmouth route.

Do you have access to a non-planner TVM? I think the South Western Railway ones still are? If so you should be able to buy it there.

You may then want to contact Red Funnel direct and ask for a ship reservation, as that does have a strict maximum number and booking a train ticket (even online) will generally not do that.

To avoid confusion: if you are going to (West) Cowes it is a RedJet and they do have a limited capacity. The ship/ferry goes to East Cowes and has a much higher capacity.

Just tried with a SWR TVM and it will happily sell me that ticket for that date & time.
