Thanks for giving me a rough idea. Im just going to have to hope that the assessment falls in a time period where I am free.
Congrats how did you find the interview, any tips? what did you do for the presentation in the end?

Best advice I can give is just take it in your stride and don't be put off if you don't make the cut first time round. I had all but forgotten about applying, so to get an email out the blue was amazing. If you pass they will definitely take you into consideration if other roles come up. Good luck and I hope you get good news.

Thank you! The interview was great to be honest, the 2 ladies interviewing me really put me at ease and it was really chilled. The presentation was about a scenario they gave me a couple of weeks beforehand and a list of questions to cover throughout the presentation. The interview after was all based around the non technical skills and your experience around them, so have a look at them and think of a scenario you've had to use that particular skill in and use the STAR technique to answer. The main thing I would say is just be yourself and answer honestly, they're wanting to get to know you as a person so let that shine through.

Thank you, still got to pass all the pre employment checks but it should be all good. You're welcome to message but I've pretty much covered everything in the previous messages. Just revise the non technical skills, think of a time you've had to use each skill and just be yourself, they want to get to know you as a person. It was probably the least stressful interview I've ever been in so don't get too worked up beforehand and you'll be fine.

The honest answer is no not really. There are old lists out there if you google it but they’re not correct, and it’s deemed as potentially sensitive nowadays so they don’t really publish.
I’m sure people on this forum will suggest some though.

Grade 2 Signaller Trainee in Dumfries, does anyone know where these are for, for the 50 minute rule?!
I shall be applying for the 3rd time now, passed all the tests but dropped out the interview once just to my boss giving me a pay rise. Second time I was on holiday and could not go and the couldn’t rearrange, will I have to go through the whole process of tests again?

If you are referring to manual signal boxes then basically only the half-dozen or so on the line from Cricklewood to Acton.
There is also the West Hampstead Signalling Control Centre near the Midland main line station controlling said line from St Pancras to north of Bedford. (Formerly West Hampstead PSB with an N-X panel but converted to computer screens and renamed at Christmas 2023.)
Grade 2 vacancy; Holywood, Thornhill or Kirkconnel are 2's...Annan is a grade 3, Dumfries is a grade 4.... AFAIK New Cumnock and Mauchline are also grade 3.

Thornhill is 49 minutes from my door, that’s the town on google not the box!

Not necessarily. You would be a Grade 2 trainee during IST, but the location worked, after passing the course, may be a higher grade.
S Tottenham and Upper Holloway are both 'N-X' panels, not mechanical boxes, although housed in former mechanical boxes.
Yeah you'll have to go through the whole process again.
In Scotland it's a 60 minute rule and initially it will apply from Dumfries for the purpose of the application however you will be expected to be within 60 minutes of whatever box on the line that there is vacancy so you may have to relocate as the boxes are Annan (Grade 3), Dumfries (Grade 4), Holywood (Grade 2), Thornhill (Grade 2, no Sundays), Kirkconnel (Grade 2, no Sundays), New Cumnock (Grade 3) & Mauchline (Grade 3).
At present moment there is only currently one vacancy at Thornhill, the rest of the boxes are fully staffed along with the relief roles

Evening all... Just been put into talent pool for a position i applied for (hoping might get that call sometime) wondering if it was possible to put your self in more then one talent pool if other jobs have appeared in the mean time for other locations?
I don't believe there are any restrictions on applying for multiple talent pools at different locations at all

Good Afternoon All, recently been put into the talent pool for a grade 2 trainee position on the London Anglia route. Just wondering how often per year do Network Rail put out recruitment campaigns for Willesden, Wembley or other London areas. Trying to gauge if g2 roles come up often in London. Thanks in advance.
Trainee signaller role was advertised this time last year for Kirkconnel . I applied ,went through tests and online interview, but then was told I lived beyond the 50 minute rule for travelling. I was placed in a talent bank for future roles closer to.my address. Now this role has come up at Dumfries, well within the travel distance rules. I have asked to be considered for this role but they now say I need to start a new application from scratch. Is this correct, anyone got any experience of this ? Thanks.
If its been more than 12 months since your initial assessments then yes you'll need fo start from scratch
They should still be valid then, might be worth querying with them. They may mean that you just need to re-do the application section and not the assessments potentially
If they are telling you that - then you need to reapply. However, you may find that on applying you skip the online tests part. You'll only find out by applying. Make sure you update your CV if anything has changed in the last 12 months (ie don't just submit the old one as dates etc may need amending).

They keep your details on file for 12 months, however your test scores are only valid for 6 months which is why you need to apply again.
To be fair the Kirkconnel trainee role was just to just to build up a reserve list for the line. I believe only one person has since been recruited from that pool. We have also changed managers since then.
