Is it absolute that the pair are going off lease next week? What with talk of 458s prematurely departing and all that.

Yes, unless it's going to become an attraction at Chessington World of Adventures

Why the trip to Basingstoke?

Wouldn't be surprised on that point - people who can/have the power to do so allocate units to go to some unusual places in their last days

Either that or somebody at SWR is owed a favour and has called it in to go home on a 455

I trust they’ve budgeted for refunding all those many passengers o_O with first class tickets…

Will be intresting how much time is lost after woking due to the 75mph max speed of 455s and that was always a struggle to get to.

Suprisingly keeping to time. Must have had real good work done on those two units.

1524 2L52 Basingstoke - London Waterloo arrives 1636 so you have half an hour.

(Remember you could also download the SWR app & buy a QR code ticket).

I've been unable to get on RTT today as I've been using Northern's wifi on trains and sometimes it won't connect - how are they doing today on their valedictory day? Not too many delays and hold ups, one hopes...

They certainly didnt have any on the basingstoke run which shocked me but as Class 317 mentioned the Driver must have been a proper old boy

On time on their last Guildford arrival this evening and not specially busy. Some enthusiasts on board and couple of dozen people taking photos at Guildford.

It was busier on the Hampton Court run with teenagers and 20-somethings particularly conspicuous.

Which one, the 12:06 or the 17:06 as the 07:06 would have been far to early for them. The 22:06 hasn't run yet.

When did any 455s last run to Basingstoke? I can't remember ever seeing one there, or even hearing of them going there, but then I don't often go that way.
