Slight over reaction. Any company I’ve worked for you’ll simply be instructed to tape off the effected area with ticket roll, open all possible windows for ventilation and then continue until realistically possible where the bus can either be swapped or cleaned on the spot.

A simple mop and bucket and a few wet wipes usually suffices also… no bus company I know will be sending guys in hazard suits for sick! Yes, it has a tendency to go everywhere, but it’s just one of those things.

That’s what happened on a bus I was on once at Conisbrough on X78. A passenger was sick upstairs, it was reported to the driver & all the upstairs windows were opened. The passengers all moved downstairs & the bus ran to Rotherham before terminating & returning to depot. The passengers all transferred to the next bus

But what happens if the bus is full to the extent there isn't enough room downstairs? What if it's a single decker? Basically sick should be treated ultra seriously because you do not know what bugs, infections etc that person has. Put it this way, if someone was sick then straight away announced they had a bad sickness bug, would you want to stay on that bus? I defo wouldn't want to stay in a contained confined unit for any length of time where someone has a bug no matter how many windows are open. Sick should be treated exactly the same as any other significant bodily fluid loss, if someone was staggering everywhere with blood coming out of them the bus would soon be cleared, so why not sick?

Hang on... the initial incident (and the example for Conisborough) involved a problem with a decker and someone being sick upstairs.

Now you're coming up with hypotheticals.

Quite simply, they will do things according to the individual circumstances. In the two examples mentioned, it was thought preferable to block off the upstairs and continue in service rather than stop in the middle of nowhere, turf everyone off the bus and wait for a relief.

I'd think that as long as the windows are open and no one is rolling around in it, people will be fine.

As for someone with "blood coming out of them", that is a hugely different scenario and not at all comparable...

I see what you are saying, but I do think we're into the realms of massive overreaction here.
As someone who works on trains I can state categorically that a train will never be taken out of service mid-run for vomit. The area is taped off and a request made for a cleaner asap. If no cleaner is available it completes its next run, and the one after if needs be!
When the cleaner does get to it they're not in full hazmat suit. They normally wipe it up using disposable cloths (which are instantly binned after), then treat the area with anti-bac spray. Any wet seats are covered with a bin bag.
I don't believe vomit on a bus is any more hazardous than its railway equivalent!

Getting back to topic it seems that the last two Volvo B7TL's were briefly together on Sutton Park yesterday.
705 broke down on a school journey (seen by a friend being attended by the engineers van), and looking at Bustimes it appears the journey was taken over by 698 which came empty from Withernsea!

East Yorkshire Buses have now registered the Moorsbus routes for the summer, one thing to note is East Yorkshire (or more likely Procters/Compass) will be running the following services on Saturday's:

M3* Stockton - Guisborough - Danby
M4 Guisborough - Sutton Bank
M5 Stokesley - Helmsley
M8 Helmsley - Castle Howard

* Danby - Pickering section of the M3 is covered by the bus that does the M1 from Hull

EY enthusiasts now report that 20933, 20935 and 20937 are all at Anlaby Road.

Interesting, so Arriva is only doing Sundays and Bank Holidays then. Looks like the M3 and M4 are intwerworked and the M5 and M8 are interworked on Saturdays.

As far as I can see, the plan for East Yorkshire/Procters is:

Saturday
(1) M1 from Hull to Pickering, two return journeys on M3 from Pickering to Danby and back, then M1 back to Hull
(2) M3 from Stockton to Guisborough, M4 Guisborough to Sutton Bank and return, M3 Guisborough to Danby and return, M4 Guisborough to Sutton Bank and return, M3 back to Stockton
(3) M5 from Stokesley to Helmsley, M8 Helmsley to Castle Howard return, M4 Helmsley to Sutton Bank return then Rievaulx return, M8 Helmsley to Castle Howard return, then M5 back to Stokesley

Sunday
(1) M1 from Hull to Pickering, two return journeys on M3 from Pickering to Danby and back, then M1 back to Hull

I saw two more Electroliners on the M62 earlier on their delivery run, couldn't see which ones though as I was going in the opposite direction

E200 21028 has transferred from Procters (Leeming Bar) to Fourways (Cleckheaton) for Go Ahead West Yorkshire.

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

Procters timetables are now listed on EY's website under the 'North Riding' section.

EY Enthusiasts reporting that 20934 and 20936 have arrived at Anlaby Road so presumably they were the two you saw.

Just for interest, here is the former 371 (YX10 EYW), now Go North West driver trainer 6175, seen in Portland Street, Manchester this morning

They were at the depot the other day so it wasn't those two I saw

20940 & 20942 were spotted at Hartshead Moor services on the M62 on the way to Hull per EY Enthusiasts.

Some news for Go Ahead West Yorkshire, the first three out of four B8RLE MCV Evoras have arrived at Leeming Bar for the X98/X99. These have been operating on the 53/73 between Northallerton and Bedale in the last day or so.

Rather late a registration like last year

Now I can see why two entries might be made for the M3, but why two identical entries for the M1 which includes an authority that it doesn't enter

EY has now uploaded Moorsbus & DalesBus timetables for this year.
Moorsbus: https://www.eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk/services/moorsbus
DalesBus: https://www.eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk/services/EY/822?date=2026-04-05&direction=outbound

Does anyone know who is operating the M3 (specifically from Stockton), M4, M5 & M8 on Saturdays this year? Is it Procters or Compass Royston?
Good to see, though I'd got my times already from the uploaded timetables from Moorsbus themselves

I was looking at Bustimes and saw that there are two applications for the M1 which are worded identically and wondered why... Maybe you or others know because it puzzles me

They've done three identical registrations for DalesBus as well, unsure why though.
They used to have an E200 that they used on the Park & Ride but unsure what operates that currently…
Didn't that transfer to either Procters or Fourway last year?

Regarding Proctors, maybe they will use their midi sized coach on the service - it would be about the right size I'd say
It's not Procters operating it, it's Compass Royston. I suppose it's down to the terms of the contract with Moorsbus, I know that Moorsbus prides themselves on using low-floor, accessible buses on their services. A coach would certainly increase the dwell times at stops, especially out on the open Moors.

Whoops, my mistake... I was looking at Proctors at the time to be fair hence the mistake

Maybe Compass will use the Solo they have (had?)

Why are these earmarked for the X98/99 when we have new, already liveried vehicles on the route?

The E200s were only ever temporary additions to get it up & running I would think. A case of take what you can get and then look for a long term option.
