Hi got my stage one assessments next week. I've just noticed on the second email ot states you need to bring proof of National Insurance. Does this need to be printed out? The first email stated ID and proof of address so I have these but missed the NI one. I've got payslips on my phone but not paper copies would this be km do you think?
Heya you just need photo ID and proof of national insurance. I had a physical copy but I saw some people getting it from their phones so you should be ok

I’ve literally just received an email to say I was successful in my stage 1. However it says “STAGE 2 might not take place for a while, however as soon as we have any further news, we shall be in touch.”

Is this a standard email , or am I looking at waiting months?
I had this email and then got an email the same day inviting me to stage 2

Just had news I’m through to OPC Stage 2 in Watford for Coventry! Anyone else?
Congrats. I have my DMI booked in for Coventry in a few weeks

When I sat stage 1 a few weeks ago (which thankfully I passed), it was just over 2 hours in total including a short break. I'd imagine yours would be in a similar order so started with the group bourdon test. Then it was TRP part 1 where you had 5 minutes to read an extract then it and any notes you made were taken away and you answer 18 multiple choice questions about the extract you read. Then it's TRP part 2 where you were shown dials and you had to work out the order of the faults and you had 8 minutes to answer 43 of them. The TEA consisted firstly of listening to lift tones where you get high and low tones but you count how many low tones you heard to determine which floor you arrive on. The second part was a directory search where you are finding the 2 symbols that are the same next to each other. Finally, it was circling the directory which whilst you are searching for 2 of the same symbols, you have the lift tones playing in the background but it's only the low tones that were playing.

The driver fault finding test we were told on the day by the OPC administrator has now been removed from the process but because it was such a recent removal it is why it's still included in the material sent out. I'd say the practice materials you've been issued is more than okay for what you'll experience on the day. You will get to practice each test before you start so don't worry if you don't completely understand a part of it before you start as you'll pick up what to expect with for example the different tones on the TEA.
Hi mate, when do the practice material it states on the TRP 2 it will be dials and cables instead. Is that true and is there much difference?

Hi mate, how long after receiving your stage 1 pass email was it until you received the invite to stage 2?

I had mine on the Friday and got my pass email on the Monday afternoon. I have heard of people getting them back the same day.

I have my medical booked for this week and my start date is the last week of April.

Anybody else book for the April course?

Hi, for me it took 10 days after completing stage 1 to get an invite for stage 2. Only got one email and it said something like “We’d like to invite you to stage 2. Use the link below…”

A question for anybody that's done an application recently- is the video interview still a part of the process? And if so, can you remember at what point you did it please?

That's great! Always disliked that specific part lol. I'm just waiting on the next stage after initial sift, been emailed about waiting for an OPC online assessment. Is it psychometrics after this point, and then the dmi if you pass stage 1 and 2?

Also congrats on passing DMI!

Thank you.

I applied last November, I had previously passed my stage 1&2 and MMI at the beginning of 2025 so luckily I skipped that process with WMT. The whole process has been very quick this time.

I’m sure you will hear something soon as I’m convinced they work in batches.

There are courses running this year and throughout 2027 for the latest applications.

That's correct so it's reading dials to find the correct order of the fault finding (on that test you are allowed to keep the notes you make before starting which I found massively helped me remember the correct sequence to solve it to get the answer).

I've had my invite to stage 1 OPC. Does WMT not accept OPC passes taken through other TOCs? Email states 'You do not need to let us know you’ve sat testing with any other TOC/FOC, this has been checked'. I passed the OPC tests and MMI less than a month ago with another TOC.

They check themselves and if you've been invited to sit assessments again you didn't hit their criteria on either all the tests or specific ones.

You'll have to resit them

I have received the attached email for the next stage at Crewe. Does anyone know what tests I should expect in this OPC online sift?
In the same boat! I have been sent the email for the test to be completed before next Friday. Have you done yours yet ?

I see, so WMT may have a more enhanced standard than the other TOC.
Potentially yes. However they did make a mistake with my OPC results last year, and told me I needed to do them again... Last minute they rang me and told me they made a mistake and I didn't need to attend. So it may be worth asking the question.

Yes from my understanding that is correct. When you get there they will check against your NI number. If you have met WMT standards with some of your tests then you will only have to do the tests you didn’t reach WMT standards on.

Also to note that if you fail any of the ones you need to retake this will override the pass you got the previous time.

No, got the email yesterday. If anyone can shed some light as to what is best to review on these before talking them? Although they appear to me to be situational judgement style so I’m guessing just focus on safety first with a focus on customer service?

I am assuming this too! I don’t want to over think it too much and mess up! But then don’t want to do them too laid back!

I've passed all the assessments last year with WMT, failed the MMI. Tempted to apply for Shreswbury but it's 60 minutes away from mine. I'd rather wait for Crewe as I live there. Anyone knows anything about any potential vacancies in Crewe this year?

What kind of questions were on the OPC test ? TIA

There's not really an "enhanced" there's national and then there's whatever each TOC wants out of it's potential candidates.

That could be higher scores or I believe in WMT case they have a faults and failures type of test that some or most other TOCs don't do.

No one but the TOCs and OPC know what is expected so I'd just go in being prepared to do all assessments again, they might just ask you to sit one or a couple but I wouldn't go in with that mindset.

As others have said though, failing a test you've already passed overrides your current pass mark so keep that in mind.

This is correct. When I say my OPC Stage 1, there was a guy who only had to do x2 of the tests so he just sat outside whilst the rest of us did them. Diffrent TOCs do use different pass marks, I asked the examiner about this. There’s a national standard but different TOCs can require higher marks that they can set at their own discretion.

Has anyone here passed the 2nd stage and on the 3rd round. So passed the online test and then passed the in person test. Or is highest one so far just done the in person tests?
