Manchester to Swindon via Grantham

Over the weekend i am travelling

Manchester to Swindon via Reading tomorrow

Swindon to Grantham via Nottingham and Birmingham on Sunday

Grantham to Manchester on Monday

I have a priv. Is there any ticket where thw routeing guide allows these to be completed on one ticket or at least a cheap combination (I’m just a Yorkshireman trying to save a few quid, it’s in my blood!)

The cheapest combination I've found is a Huddersfield to Swindon SVR "not via London" (£33.45), a Swinton (South Yorks) to Grantham SVR (£10.05), and a Huddersfield to Manchester SDS (£4.55, assuming you don't want to faff around with Northern to save 35p). That is assuming you want to go from Grantham to Manchester via Leeds.

If you want to take the direct train from Grantham to Manchester, then instead get a Chesterfield to Grantham SVR (£9.70) and a Sheffield to Manchester SDS (£6.95).

Oh this is assuming you don't want to go via Sheffield on Friday. If you do, get SVRs from Manchester to Derby (£13.05), Derby to Birmingham (£5.90), and Birmingham to Swindon (£15.15), along with a pair of SDSs between Nottingham and Grantham (2x £3).

I'm not at all convinced that will cover Swindon - Birmingham - Nottingham - Grantham.

My thinking is get a

Manchester - Derby
Nottingham - Swindon ticket


I get free travel between Leeds and Manchester so will just top them up with a Nottingham - Grantham and Grantham - Leeds ticket

I'm not at all convinced that will cover Swindon - Birmingham - Nottingham - Grantham.

The return leg of HUD–SWI is valid up to Derby, at which point the SWN–GRA ticket can take over.

If that's the case then the Nottingham to Swindon ticket can just be a split of Derby to Birmingham and Birmingham to Swindon. That plus a Derby to Grantham single is cheaper
