Post 3669 (Page 123 - Dated 22/10/25) Mentions 730201 & 730202. 4 Months Later they are Reported as going back to Litchurch Lane. Could it be that these 2 were not built to the same Standard as Subsequent (in Service) Units?

Probably no interior as they were test units? And did a lot of testing at Dalby.

According to Realtime Trains 730203 was moved from Gascoigne Wood to Bletchley yesterday. There have also been moves between Soho and GW and back - presumably 730/0s

Can anyone confirm that the current locations of the 7 remaining 730/2s to enter service are:
730201 & 202 Derby LL
730203 & 206 BY
730204 & 227 Gascoigne Wood
730236 Old Dalby

Thanks

Thanks. I agree with those locations for the 7 that have not yet entered service.

In addition, it's reported that 730231 went back to Gascoigne Wood yesterday:
5Q16 0817 Bletchley T.M.D. to Gascoigne Wood Sidings (09/03/2026)

and 730207 went back to Gascoigne Wood on 24/02/2026:
5Q16 1246 Bletchley T.M.D. to Gascoigne Wood Sidings (24/02/2026)

As far as I know, all of them apart from those listed above are now at Bletchley (or in service elsewhere on WCML).

Is there a purpose they return to gascoigne wood so often? Thanks

All of the 350/2s and 323s have gone so the remaining 730/2s that haven't entered service don't seem to me to be needed in service at the moment.
One possibility is the remaining 730/2s replacing 730/0s on the Euston inner-suburbans (the original p[lan) , but that would just make 730/0s surplus instead of 730/2s.

I appreciate that, in the future, there will be demand for more units in Birmingham ham and also the proposed Manchester Airport service will also increase diagrammed fleet.

Manchester Airport route learning is being done with 350s. I don't think there are plans to use the 730s on the Airport services

Understood and thanks, but I suggest that the 350s on the new service would be sourced by replacing them with the presently stored 730/2s on their current work. I think that there are some routes with are mixed 350 and 730/2 at the moment, these could become more, or all, 730/2.

And a 730 wouldn't be able to do the planned Airport service due to short platforms on the Stoke wobble where long trains will foul junctions (Stone)

Doors and can seals mostly. Toilets is a spec issue, not something that can be modified from my daily experience

Is the 'spec issue' the fact that the water flow is close to the front edge of the basin so, if you have your hands under it, some runs onto the floor? The 730/0 toilets always seem to have wet floors as a result.

Not sure on that, but tank size (can lose multiple toilets on a unit per day due to effluent levels) and tanking access point (being inaccessible from platform level) are the 2 biggest issues.

Wet floors has also been noticed by many guards.

I've also noticed the water flow position issue, it's very easy to soak the floor and your shoes.

What isn't easy is drying your hands, the dryer is useless, they may as well disable it and save the electric...

Thanks for that.
The pathing time wait at Northampton is often used to good purpose for toilet 'tanking', two tank units (presumably one for off and one for on) and seems very efficient. Overlooked in the 730 spec. by someone...
No matter how careful you are, imo, it's impossible not to get water onto the floor when washing one's hands.

Indeed. That layover time was very useful for the 350s. Shame it now is just wasted time.

Overall I enjoy working 730s, much more passenger friendly and feel light and spacious.

No new train since 2014 (?) has been delivered with above solebar CET and tanking ability following a change in the relevant standards. Not a spec oversight issue.

Really? Makes a mockery of ordering mobile CET machines and training staff on them only to get trains that can't be emptied this way.

Makes a 5 minute job a 40 minute shunt onto a depot and back out. Though control don't seem to want to do that either these days
