Last I heard 202, 204 and 227 were at Gascoigne Wood; 236 at Old Dalby; 206 is at Bletchley
Which reminds me. Were 730201 and 730202 the 730s that started life as 730101 & 730102 ?.
Yes, they were.Which reminds me. Were 730201 and 730202 the 730s that started life as 730101 & 730102 ?.
If so would that indicate they need more work done (at Derby LL) ?.
Probably no interior as they were test units? And did a lot of testing at Dalby.Post 3669 (Page 123 - Dated 22/10/25) Mentions 730201 & 730202. 4 Months Later they are Reported as going back to Litchurch Lane. Could it be that these 2 were not built to the same Standard as Subsequent (in Service) Units?
Definitely had interiors as they were at Crewe depot for a while. Sure they are photos on here of them.Probably no interior as they were test units? And did a lot of testing at Dalby.
According to Realtime Trains 730203 was moved from Gascoigne Wood to Bletchley yesterday. There have also been moves between Soho and GW and back - presumably 730/0s
Can anyone confirm that the current locations of the 7 remaining 730/2s to enter service are:
730201 & 202 Derby LL
730203 & 206 BY
730204 & 227 Gascoigne Wood
730236 Old Dalby
Thanks
Is there a purpose they return to gascoigne wood so often? ThanksThanks. I agree with those locations for the 7 that have not yet entered service.
In addition, it's reported that 730231 went back to Gascoigne Wood yesterday:
5Q16 0817 Bletchley T.M.D. to Gascoigne Wood Sidings (09/03/2026)
and 730207 went back to Gascoigne Wood on 24/02/2026:
5Q16 1246 Bletchley T.M.D. to Gascoigne Wood Sidings (24/02/2026)
As far as I know, all of them apart from those listed above are now at Bletchley (or in service elsewhere on WCML).
Thanks.Pretty sure 730236 is also at Gascoigne Wood.
Cheers
Joel
Manchester Airport route learning is being done with 350s. I don't think there are plans to use the 730s on the Airport servicesI appreciate that, in the future, there will be demand for more units in Birmingham ham and also the proposed Manchester Airport service will also increase diagrammed fleet.

Doors and can seals mostly. Toilets is a spec issue, not something that can be modified from my daily experienceI believe it’s for toilet mods as apparently they are quite problematic
And a 730 wouldn't be able to do the planned Airport service due to short platforms on the Stoke wobble where long trains will foul junctions (Stone)Manchester Airport route learning is being done with 350s. I don't think there are plans to use the 730s on the Airport services
What’s foul junction thanksAnd a 730 wouldn't be able to do the planned Airport service due to short platforms on the Stoke wobble where long trains will foul junctions (Stone)
The train is long enough that it would block the points while it was stopped. What’s foul junction thanks

Not sure on that, but tank size (can lose multiple toilets on a unit per day due to effluent levels) and tanking access point (being inaccessible from platform level) are the 2 biggest issues. Is the 'spec issue' the fact that the water flow is close to the front edge of the basin so, if you have your hands under it, some runs onto the floor? The 730/0 toilets always seem to have wet floors as a result.

Wet floors has also been noticed by many guards.
Indeed. That layover time was very useful for the 350s. Shame it now is just wasted time. Thanks for that.
The pathing time wait at Northampton is often used to good purpose for toilet 'tanking', two tank units (presumably one for off and one for on) and seems very efficient. Overlooked in the 730 spec. by someone...
No matter how careful you are, imo, it's impossible not to get water onto the floor when washing one's hands.
No new train since 2014 (?) has been delivered with above solebar CET and tanking ability following a change in the relevant standards. Not a spec oversight issue. Thanks for that.

Really? Makes a mockery of ordering mobile CET machines and training staff on them only to get trains that can't be emptied this way.No new train since 2014 (?) has been delivered with above solebar CET and tanking ability following a change in the relevant standards. Not a spec oversight issue.
