On 9 January, I was given an MG11 form because I used a Jobcentre discount card that I was not supposed to use. My details and email address were taken at the time. I was informed that I should expect a letter soon. However, I requested that, if possible, I would prefer to be contacted by email.

Up to now, I have not received any email or letter. I would like to ask what I should do next. Should I contact them to follow up, or should I wait longer?
Do they send by email?

By whom were you stopped and given the MG11?

They have a time limit of 6 months to prosecute, but depending on who it is they are likely to agree to settle out of court before then.

Generally we advise waiting until they contact you, provided the details you gave them at the time are correct.

When you say you used a job centre card that you were not supposed to use.

Do you mean you couldn't show card at the time (forgotten to carry it), or do you mean it had expired, or do you mean you didn't actually have a job centre card but you bought a ticket that would only be valid if you did (a ticket with a 50% discount that was conditional on also having a valid job centre card)

Typically 3-10 weeks are common for a reply (depends how busy they are), but can be as much as 6 months.

Thank you for your prompt response. I am not exactly sure who the individuals were, but I believe they may have been the officers who normally carry out inspections. I cooperated fully and asked if it would be possible to contact me via email, and he said he would include that in his report.

I truly hope the matter does not escalate, as I have not yet received any email or letter at my address. The reason I requested communication by email is because Royal Mail has previously misplaced my letters by delivering them to another house with a similar address.

Can you clarify which stations you travelled from and to please.

Did they also take your postal address and if they did is your post reliable?

Also check spam obviously

Chances are they’ve not sent anything yet perhaps.

Yes they took my postal address too but i travel alot it will be easy to track email than their letter. I am at home now I checked no letter from them. I asked from my neighbour he said no letter for me.

If they routinely do it by letter that's what you will get - as far as they are concerned receiving it is your problem I'm afraid.

If you have been evading fares you are not in a friendly customer services environment as far as they are concerned - you are on a path way that could end in court action (potentially - tho with luck, effort and some money, that can be avoided)

Have a look at some other SE trains threads to get an idea if people were sent letters or e-mails. Search SE Trains on the forum search tool. That might help you get an idea of how they contact people usually.

Southeastern communicate by letter, using the address given when stopped. If they take you to court that is where the summons or papers will go to.

The trend seems to be that Southeastern either put your case on hold (their explanation is that they are reviewing their practices), in which case it could be many months before you hear from them, or they don't in which case they get in touch quite quickly, 1-3 weeks. Regardless it isn't in your interests to contact them, just wait for them to contact you then come back here for help!

Thank you. I'm still expecting their letter or email
