Finally caught up with one of these and they're really quite nice (with the low density layout the thick backed seats are fine). However the failure to clean the filth off the ceiling and overhead rack is really obvious - a very strange omission from the contract, presumably in error! Hopefully someone can at least run a cloth over them at some point.

How is the refurbishment of the first 360 going, I wonder... the one I got home Friday evening really did look particularly tired internally.

360117 has been completely refurbished inside but is yet to enter service. Not sure if it's moved back to Kettering or not yet

I saw 117 out in service on Saturday, and indeed it is out and about to day. Currently heading to corby on 1Y21 1045 London to Corby.

I thought the first unit was 107

Perhaps a grubby damp cloth embroidered with "Transport UK"

It’s technically an Abellio brand that Transport UK inherited :P
Technically, technically via a management buyout. No doubt we could carry on with the technicalities!

But to bring this back OT, I’ve not seen one of the refurbished units in person, but they seem to look good from pictures. Leaving the ceilings grubby would be a surprising and disappointing omission from the contract.

Since you’ve teased that there’s pictures, would you be so kind as to point us in the direction of said pictures please?

170501-503 didn't have their top panels and vestibules painted/sprayed but from 504 they have so I'm assuming they've travelled on one of those units. I think they will go back eventually for correcting.

Although it doesn’t impact the passenger experience these didn’t have their cabs as extensively painted either. The units from 504 onwards look much better.

Any news on how 158785 is getting on in Bristol, it’s been a bit since I’ve heard anything about it.

Any news on the appearance of a refurbished 360?
We've waited nearly 5 years...
First unit came back 2 weeks ago, no news since.
Not seen it at Cricklewood or Bedford Cauldwell this week, so must be at Kettering.

Keep checking for any short term workings to and from Kettering which might be for a launch/ show off.

Last time someone asked on X they said february, but that has long since gone.

Thanks. I haven't particularly noticed it at Kettering but presumably its exterior is unchanged so wouldn't stand out.
There are times when there are no units at all in the sidings , I get the impression that the number of sets there is just enough to cover the diagrams that start our finish there rather than any reserve or stored stock.

158773 to Etches Park tonight at 0045 from Eastcroft, unusual time for the move but due to a 30mph restriction.

Just seen on LinkedIn that 170507 is back to Derby on Sunday, assuming 170509 is heading the other way

360107 included on a very late 5F60 1619 Northampton-Kettering with 360116 behind 57306 today, so if it was previously released, it went back.

360107 (coupled to 360105) seems to have gone ECS Class 3 Kettering Stabling Sidings > Corby > St Pancras > Corby overnight last night (24- 25th March).

Edit; went past Kettering Stabling Sidings and there were 2 360s there. Both looked shinier than usual - has 360105 been refurbished as well as 360107? I remember seeing a photo of two 360s in Kings Heath refurb shed.

170502 back in service today after 4 months out.
Yup, however it appears to have failed at Bingham on 2E01. Arrived 2L, departed 32L, where it was brought to Grantham (44L) and terminated. Caused quite a bit of chaos on the line too.

Some good news - 158773 returned to service today, starting off on 2A01 and 1L02, however (there’s always a however…) it never did anything else, suffered a GSM-R failure on 1L02 at Peterborough, got pulled, returned to Eastcroft under 5Z02 and the service canned resulting in the following service (1R68) to also be canned between Norwich and Notts, with units 810 and 862 taking over from there. 773 been in Eastcroft since, no reappearance today.

Another message, this time about 158785 (and the next unit going in for refurb). A schedule has been created for 785 to return, this time its scheduled to return straight Eastcroft instead of via Derby Etches - https://live.rail-record.co.uk/train.php/?c=K64419&d=2026-04-01 - with the schedule for the next unit to be sent out also made, also direct from Eastcroft - https://live.rail-record.co.uk/train.php/?c=K64418&d=2026-04-01 - and time know what the unit going out will be?
