Thanks for posting this, would have missed it otherwise!

Two tickets purchased. Said there were 210 left.

There were more available this afternoon (I got two), maybe they are releasing them in batches

Are they batch-releasing? It looks like it's gone from loads to zero and back a couple times now...

It's showing as sold out now. Just always worth checking the website now and again though.

Looks like it's been cancelled as EventBrite have emailed me to say it has been:

Thank you for your interest in our Rail Open Day. We are writing to inform you that, unfortunately, the Direct Rail Services Open Day, scheduled for 11 July, has had to be cancelled.

We understand this will be very disappointing news, particularly for those who had already made plans to attend, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

When putting on public events of this kind, safety must always be the top priority, this will guide our decision making on future events. During detailed planning discussions, it became clear we would no longer be able to deliver a successful event which met the expectations of our families, friends and communities as well as changing health and safety obligations.

All tickets purchased for the event will be refunded via Eventbrite. Refunds will be processed automatically to the original method of payment, and you do not need to take any further action at this stage.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Real shame, this, was really looking forward to it. That middle paragraph in the email is very vague. Does anyone happen to know the details of what the problems were?

I feel like it's general guff from EventBrite rather than something DRS themselves have said.

DRS have announced it themselves.

My experience of visiting 2 years ago was that it may as well have been a depot queuing day, rather than an open day. There were too many people, and not enough stuff on that you didn't have to queue several hours for. Maybe they couldn't find a way to avoid a repeat of this?

That's a shame.

Any suggestions as to what to do with 5 hours in Crewe on Saturday 11th as there's no refund on an advance ticket!

Go to the heritage centre centre and /or hope for some interesting movements through the station ?

The wording is definitely not generic and has come from the event itself, not EventBrite.

If you like beer then this might be up your street?

I should add that the Raven is currently closed. The town centre pubs are all fairly close to the entrance to the Heritage Centre, plus the Market Hall is now a food court with independent outlets and the Crewe Dog for more beer.

Thank you for all the suggestions, I think I’ll split my time between the heritage centre, the station and a pub or two!
