Hi all, i've got only 3 Class 158s allocated to NH, 794, 795 and 797. Is that correct as i still need all 3 for haulage? Thanks
Tel
There are no 158's allocated to NH, all of Northern's 158's are either at HT or NL, although NL 158's have several diagrams on the west side, particularly Leeds-Wigan.

Noticed today a 4-331 at Wigan North Western which had had the large NORTHERN logo scrubbed off of each carriage, and a smaller one put in its place. It looked far better, in my opinion. I wonder if they will do this to all of them?

Oh heck yes that Northern font is terrible, then they made it huge, it looks so childish, yet so unprofessionally Northern. This fine website does not include childish fonts so can’t replicate it here. After 3 seconds of looking, this would have been better, and more like their original choice. AND IT’S NOT ALL CAPS which was a ridiculous idea!

Here it is:

I managed to get this image but it’s not clear due to the sun.

Image description: A 331 at Wigan NW. The Northern logo is distinctly smaller than usual. Not visible on camera due to the sun, but visible at the scene, is where the larger version of the logo has been scrubbed away.

As you can see, it does look a bit better the way they’ve rectified it on 331109.

No, it's simply how the Northern branding has been replaced on the units that have had the "Thank You NHS" wording removed.

NORTHERN was not a business choice. At the time Arriva had some kind of copyright wranglings going on over the of original design of the word "Northern" and wanted a huge chunk of money for it. Whether that was them being difficult I don't know, but either way the money was not available for millions to be spent on something that wasn't factored in during the transfer to DOR so we got the free version you see today

They DID make a choice on the font though, which is abysmal.

The DfT own that design and have done since the transition as is shown on the IPO trademarks website

156472 was expected to be released this week (14/03) but has gone back to next week now.
156481 is circa beginning of May.
150003 is supposedly next week as well.
150275 at the moment is due out 28th March.

156484 "went back" recently IIRC for warranty work. 156452 appears now to have "gone back" today, without entering traffic post C6. 156420 hasn't done much post C6. 156491, recent C6, several lengthy periods out of service. The jobs of the Northern fleet managers must be hard enough to start with, without having to deal with additional unplanned unit unavailability! Hopefully the TOC isn't picking up the tab for this? Again thanks to Diligent Dave for his updates!

156452 has indeed returned to GRS for rectification work. With it was 156488 which has corrosion issues that the depot couldn't repair, therefore it will enter the C6 & CSO program early. 156420 is having a few issues which are difficult to track down but might have to revisit as well (but that's not solid yet).

I've just seen a post on Instagram of 333013 been dragged by two class 37s through Leeds. The post says it is going to Holbeck, presumably to Holbeck Depot.

Does anyone know why it is going there?

Its my post youre on about. Yes its Holbeck Depot where it was going to but I dont know for sure why it went there. Can only assume its to have a refurb like some of the other northern trains have been getting recently

Pantograph CCTV and electricity metering installation. It obviously can't be done at Skipton due to the OHLE and there's no capacity at Neville Hill.
