For online purchased paid by credit card I thought there was meant to be some sort of "cooling of period" legislation where you can get a free refund within a certain time scale. Does that only apply to physical goods though or would it also cover rail tickets? If the latter I can't see how this change could be enforced? Although possibly it only applies if a ticket costs above a certain amount. I can certainly see an issue with this as I used Trainline to buy a ticket (possibly my first mistake) and had discovered that the ticket they sold me was a "split save" with the split at Gomshall not a direct ticket. But before I even started the journey the first (Thameslink) train was cancelled, meaning I'd miss the GWR train. The next one didn't stop at Gomshall, so my split ticket wouldn't have been valid for another 2 hours! As a result I could at least get a refund of the ticket (it was still unused) and buy another which wasn't a split. It would be annoying to be forced to wait 2 hours for the next one, or swallow the cost.
) or cancelled. Same as would allow an Advance to be refunded now.
