Strangely LRR is now also showing 2300 Waterloo to Chessington and 2342 return to Wimbledon. That's a long layover off 2S54. Maybe more services will be allocated later.5717+727 allocated to 5S45/2S45/2S54
Internally they are also showing as allocated to run 2M71 23:00 Waterloo - Chessington South, 2M96 23:42 Chessington South to Wimbledon, and then 5Y64 into Wimbledon Depot. This may change of course.5717+727 allocated to 5S45/2S45/2S54
I thought for a sec that they don’t have enough drivers who sign 455 anymore when they decided to cancel 5S47/2S47 without putting a replacement unit…A second pair of 455s are out this evening vice 458530
5712 + 5732
2V57 1907 London Waterloo to Twickenham
2S73 2222 London Waterloo to Weybridge
2S47 was cancelled "due to a train fault". It's my understanding that 8530 came out of the depot ECS, then failed at Waterloo before the passenger working. It does seem odd that all the recent 455 workings have been on 2S work though where they can't call at Virginia Water platform 3.I thought for a sec that they don’t have enough drivers who sign 455 anymore when they decided to cancel 5S47/2S47 without putting a replacement unit…
Why can they not call at Virginia Water P3?2S47 was cancelled "due to a train fault". It's my understanding that 8530 came out of the depot ECS, then failed at Waterloo before the passenger working. The platform is not quite long enough for a 160m pair, and the 455s do not have any form of SDO. In the plan for 10 car 455/456 combinations, a large number of platforms on the lines via Wimbledon were extended, rather than fitting SDO to the elderly fleet, but this particular platform was not usually operated by 455s.Why can they not call at Virginia Water P3?
Not being fully aware of trains in the south, apart from the fact they run, I am rather curious
I think they did run to Weybridge via Chertsey at one point. The signal was moved as part of a resignalling project if I recall correctly. The platform is not quite long enough for a 160m pair, and the 455s do not have any form of SDO. That's Datchet. Prior to that signal being moved an 8-455 was able to stop there and run London to Windsor, but they no longer can.I think they did run to Weybridge via Chertsey at one point. The signal was moved as part of a resignalling project if I recall correctly.
Memory clearly failing me then. They must have been four cars. That's Datchet. Prior to that signal being moved an 8-455 was able to stop there and run London to Windsor, but they no longer can.
Weybridge has always been an issue, with Virginia Water, and previously Chertsey being too short too.
4-car 455s were very common on weekends paticularly until the 458/5s appeared.Memory clearly failing me then. They must have been four cars.
Yes - penny pinching SWT ran 4 coach 455's on everything all day at weekends on Weybridge/ Hounslow loop services.Memory clearly failing me then. They must have been four cars.
Should be remembered that the expense involved in the 458 conversion to 5 car, and associated other work within that period, cost SWT dearly, and with unit mileage being probably second highest outlay behind staff costs, the wider longer term picture has to be considered.Yes - penny pinching SWT ran 4 coach 455's on everything all day at weekends on Weybridge/ Hounslow loop services.
Now allocated to:According to the data feed to RTT, 5712 + 5732 are currently allocated vice 2*458/4 this afternoon
2S45 1522 London Waterloo to Weybridge
2S54 1703 Weybridge to London Waterloo
2V55 1837 London Waterloo to Twickenham
At Waterloo now. Showing on screens as 1522 WeybridgeNow allocated to:
2V43 1537 Ex Waterloo (Hounslow rounder)
2R49 Ex 1715 Waterloo (Hounslow rounder in the opposite direction)
2S59 1852 Waterloo to Weybridge (via Hounslow)
2S68 2033 Weybridge to Waterloo (via Hounslow)
2S73 2222 Waterloo to Weybridge (via Hounslow)
5Y66 Weybridge to Wimbledon depot (via Surbiton and Wimbledon station)
There seem to be a few 458/4s "laid up" at the back of W'don depot? (sidings near the District Line route) - presume this is one of the reasons the 455s are still needed?Just seen them leave Waterloo on the 15:22.

Somethings afoot. There was a post on a 455 FB saying there is a further week's contract extension with Porterbrook to the end of this week. There seem to be a few 458/4s "laid up" at the back of W'don depot? Not sure what happened here as the allocations must have been different for about 5 minutes before switching back!458413 + 458423 now allocated to 2V55 1837 London Waterloo to Twickenham off 2R49 1715 London Waterloo to London Waterloo which is a GBTT minus 4.
With enough 701s now available to cover all their own diagrams, this must be a sign that Wimbledon are finally beginning to give up on the 458s. Two [458] diagrams covered by 701s earlier and now seemingly a third by the 455s.Somethings afoot. You must have seen that at the same time as me because I'd just gone to post this is the 455 and 458/5 withdrawals threadThere is another 2*458/4 diagram being covered by the newly spare second 458/5 this evening with 458533 allocated to
2V51 1737 London Waterloo to London Waterloo
2C61 1920 London Waterloo to Reading
2C72 2109 Reading to London Waterloo
2S75 2252 London Waterloo to Weybridge
458533 had been on the booked 458/5 diagram this morning, but that is 458530 this evening. 458533 has effectively replaced 701048. As you noted the allocations are a bit fluid so I may be wrong, but I think that 20 458/4 were in service this evening (for 24 diagrams), but that is down to 18 in service this evening. At these sort of levels, you would think that the 455s may have some work for a little while yet?
Physically they can run anywhere they always use to. The critical factor this late in the day is crew traction knowledge, combined with a plan that ensures the units are not left high and dry at (particularly Waterloo) without a crew to move them to depot. Are the 455s still able to run down as far as Guildford? I'm sure they did on the tour (and I was on it!) but don't know if they can now
Both sets ran as far as Haslemere on the BLS runs. Are the 455s still able to run down as far as Guildford? I'm sure they did on the tour (and I was on it!) but don't know if they can now
