First Glasgow are shaking up their Lanarkshire routes - having read the overview of the changes (that I am not at liberty to share), it would seem First are positioning themselves to engage in competition with JMB Travel.
First will find themselves serving Lanark again amongst lots of other route and route number changes.
Lanark has been mentioned before on coming back but won't happen if someone has a brain. When McKindless went under and First took over, the route was dead no one wanted to use First for the fact they don't provide change and drivers are behind a screen. A big change from what the passengers were use too.
Soon as the green vehicles reappeared on the streets it wasn't long before First pulled out. Customers in this neck of the woods like to interact with the drivers also with a few faces on the 41 who have drove the route for many many years.
I don't see how they have the resources to expand this side of Lanarkshire and to try and compete with JMB on the 41 route which I think is just ludicrous. Perhaps its not JMB they are fighting but Stuarts for the express route?
Either way I thought First Glasgow was short of vehicles unless a route is being cancelled/reduced.
These changes First are planning are possibly to reflect what JMB are upto as they continue to grow in Firsts territory.
First have provided poor service for too long this side of Lanarkshire with the downgrading of vehicles for a start when you have the independents all using Volvo Evoras.
