HD05 tonight. Been a while since I was on an ex-GC set. Seats are nice but the rest of the interior has the same tired feeling as the ex VTEC sets.

Seems 1W11 et al were not Mk4 today. First time in a long time that has happened. I think the last day where a planned Mk4 was missed was Monday last week and that was because no set made it to Holyhead because of disruption and was not anything to do with the Mk4s. Hopefully, today is a one-off and we are back to full coverage again.

Was doing the maths recently, and with 5 diagrams from 7 sets, the Mk4s were actually beating the 197s on diagram coverage per theoretically available set a couple of days this week. It is of course a distorted figure because of the Mk4s being a microfleet.

Today had 2 random faults causing an entire diagram to be lost, bits have been missed but its quite a while since a whole diagram has missed. A back up set was planned to be made available for most of the diagram but that wasnt ready in the end either. Should be back to normal tomorrow with an additional set out out on Sunday too.

Given TfW cannot seem to run Swansea to Manchester and return, Holyhead will be impressive.

Meanwhile I had the bonus of HD06 yesterday, two GC sets in two days. The sadness of the passengers was not the trains fault.

Does anyone know the cost of upgrading to First Class from Cardiff to Manchester? I am doing a journey during the week and tempted to use a MK4 and upgrade. I paid about £27 when i did it last year but ive heard the upgrade is only £20 during the week and £10 at weekends?

£21 weekdays and £11 weekends now

Looks like a great day on the Marches. Everything from Cardiff is showing as a 5-car.

Something strange on 1W13, but that must be a technical issue. The train is cancelled and then a new 1W13 inserted and operated with the Mk4 throughout.
