More excellent work @Ashley Hill . However I do question why one of the pieces of the police line says "Polics UUK BB Just Cr2ss".

At least this confirms where the BTP are. Elsewhere there is much less effort expended. Hopefully someone has told the signaller though.

First (pointing) policeman: "That's definitely a class 60 down there!"

Second policeman: "B*gg*r! I bet it's the last one I need!"

That looks suspiciously like the Rylstone branch....but I don't think it has that number of signalling cables alongside.

Seeing double - Double the AI pictures, double track, double headed trains and double application of TOPS numbers on 47050 and 47079. That last one was a quirk of Gemini's.
My Italian isn't good - I might've used wrong vernacular for that luxurious Havash toilet advert.

Havash spent all that money on an advert and then someone parked their PowerGen van in front of it.

I felt like I was missing something in @Sun Chariot excellent efforts. It made me feel somewhat in the dark. There is something staring me in the face...

Out on test - troublesome Mirrlees engine now replaced with an English Electric 12 cylinder block, this Brush Type 2 takes to the rails, in its red-oxide undercoat, with a proving-run. An unhealthy 8F wheezes past in the opposite direction.

Is it rain in your image? I worry how wet that poor pussy is.
There's a Shed near - but it's not one for feline warm 'n' dry.

One wonders if someone in the maintenance department has a relative with a fencing company. No idea what the fence between the diesel and the steam train is supposed to fence in.

Off the end of an island platform in the valleys we find the last southbound of the night approaching. There is a green signal for the northbound, but who knows when the next unit will rattle that way?

It's possibly the Red Rose boundary with White Rose territory. We need as many fences as we can muster. ;)
Actually, I wrote it as a now-singled line which diverges off to the left behind image's viewpoint - hence the boundary fence starts this side of the two-arch bridge.
The branch's junction with the Main Line is far distant beyond that bridge (conveniently avoids me writing the description for the required semaphore signals!)

Thanks. The PowerGen Italia van is a play on words, e.g. the black writing on the van's rear wheel arch.
Two more word-plays are within the scene too. ;)
Powergen had an Italian division at one time and the domain really was powergenitalia.com, according to Steven Fry in an old QI.

I remember it :) it's what germinated my idea for the van. ;)
Ouao! Ogni giorno è un giorno di scuola!
In inglese: Wow! Every day is a school day!
Havash, however, is not real. It's my intentional corruption of Hawas lavatories. With Italian web domain suffix... ;)
And did you spot the ad for fictitious optical designer-frames company LensLab Italiano Alta Moda? A bit of a mouthful - so the poster uses its abbreviated forn IA. Another word-play...

The thread's aim, from the start, is to show the evolution of AI as an enabler to creating image-compositions.
The vast majority of images are created as a serious attempt to show the breadth of AI capability - for example, its lighting / focal-length effects.

I accept that some images have a tongue-in-cheek element - but all contributors do that with gentle good-natured intent.

The first few pages' images demonstrate how AI algorithms were giving little more than the best approximation of the trains; a quick look at the class 37s and 66s is an indication of their AI shortcomings.

Since November, we have seen step-change improvement in accuracy (although I still curse Google for lowering the fidelity and clarity of its AI images, even those generated with its paid version).

My take is that I would not include provocative images in my posts, but that is because I am conscious of the societal consensus and the need to comply therewith. I absolutely believe that others should have the right to provoke debate. As an academic, one of the saddest transitions in recent times has been the movement from debating with alternative views to blocking them. See Bangor University not allowing a Reform candidate to speak.

I am sure that there will be some who do not like the tendency to run stories through the posts, or to add little cameo scenes within the overall picture. I do that to give a little interest and discussion beyond the train image. I think the world has a lot of seriousness and a bit of humour is good. I do think it is entirely realistic that two cats would find themselves in the land between two running lines off the end of a platform like that. I have seen it in real life. I had to prompt to put them there.

It would be great if more people contributed images and/or shaped the discussions more.

Construction on HS2 has started near Crewe. Just because the media do not like to venture out of London (and now Salford) no one noticed. However, the link is under construction in this photo from the Avanti transition era. The Pendolino was diverted via Alsager owing to work on the southern approaches.

Looks like it could be an Avanti offering from these images.

It was meant to be a Bass Red Triangle but AI made the inside hollow. I did not want to use another of my pro allowance to fix it though.

Was all inspired by @Ashley Hill and thoughts of the Dolphin on Plymouth's Barbican (Anyone in the area please go and support the pub). Here is a delivery train taking the empties back to Burton wrong line.

Brilliant images and backstory @Topological 8-) For fleeting moments, I thought the barrel was Cheshire's Trojan Horse (perhaps filled with impetuous armadillos?) - but then I saw tbe red symbol and realised it's the delta between where the tunnel is, versus where it should be. ;)
You may be onto something. Just need to work out what is working the wagon turntable to gain entry to the brewery buildings.

Music to our ears - I fondly remember the soporific sounds of split-flap display Solari departure boards. They accompanied my 1980s Rail Rovers and my 1990s commuting. I also recall Deltic 55021 erupting out York, in 1981 - Napier music to my youthful ears!
This is in homage to both, with a twist. The destinations are UK bands as best-known; the "calling at" locations are those bands' other names, earlier in their music career.

Is it possible the passengers in York are confused to see this new-fangled electrical magic from the West? I might be wrong, but wasn't York electrified post-Deltic? I have spent some time checking and believe I am right that electrification was almost 8 years after the Deltics withdrawal.

Of course the red rose had electricity a long time by that time.

Indeed the East Coast Main Line's northerly section was still OHLE-free as late as 1991. York wired 1989; Gemini decided otherwise...
William Gilbert (born 1544, in Colchester*) had identified the physical relationship between magnetism and electricity.

* Lesser known, is Gilbert's discovery occurred while he played slot machines on Blackpool's Pleasure Beach and larked about with the game "Operation" in Woolworths Preston Fishergate; it thereby confirms Lancashire as the centre of all things.
