Elsewhere on the network an army is being assembled right in front of the "oh look they have M&S here too" holidaymakers who already exhausted the excitement of Barry Island

I made this one last night, but looks like it never actually posted.

Saturday is the last day for February's realstic railway-related AI images with a Great British holiday theme.
Lots of great pictures posted this month - thanks all! Thanks @nlogax for such a good choice of theme!
Sunday 15th February, reverts to your realstic railway-related AI images of any subject.

I now have a wicked image of a 37-hauled South Wales MGR: HAA hoppers loaded with holidaymakers instead of coal. ;)

I love it @Topological 8-) Especially that British holiday quirk of buying enormous inflatables and then insisting on trying to squeeze the things onto public transport...
One in your image looks just like an inflatable karoke mic! :D
If they get the guy from Penistone with the black paint (now in the mad pictures, even though Penistone is a place) he can paint those ice-creams into microphones. To be fair the Welsh do love a good song.

(Off topic: When at Swansea there was a male voice choir used to book one of the lecture theatres to practice in the evenings. It was nice working in my office upstairs but still being able to hear them)

A trip ten years into the future. it's a great day in the Lakes as the Keswick to Penrith branch finally reopens.

The trouble with family holidays is that the parents can often get carried away!
All it's missing, is a parent stuck in the child sized slide. Oh - and some moody narcotic users.

The great Railway Mania of 2036! Surely a day of holiday and festivities, especially in light of those two celebrity guests. I never knew Kendal Mint Cake came in a shredded-leaf form..

I think this is what you had in mind?

The trouble with family holidays is that the parents can get carried away! Their son clearly thinks they have been in the pub too long.

Superb work again. Although the train makes me think of Leeds United so I have scored this image down :)

You have done the Beauty Britain tour and now you can buy the fridge magnet. The train outside captures perfectly what so many British trains are like these days.

However, you do wonder how long they were in the Signal Arms since the son has grown up a lot between the two images.
I wish I'd thought of using the Absolute Block system, during your chosen theme last month:
Proceed to Bar
Wait at Bar (to collect load)
Cross over to down Looe line (for toilet)

Home signal protecting the pub's entrance door. Best excuse ever, for a lock-in? ("Honestly,, I couldn't leave the pub because its signal stayed at Danger for hours")

I don't wish to be rude to the lady....but I can't help feeling that the mother in these pictures has spent her whole life eating nothing but pasties - so much so that she looks more like the childrens' grandmother! (Dons tin hat and awaits incoming accusations of ageism, sexism, fatism, etc.).

"Dad, I want one of those!". Whilst the girls are packing for the journey home tomorrow father & son indulge in some Stobart spotting.

Nudge-nudge, wink-wink - some people's holidays are centred around their favourite past-time. It's an ideal way to relax and reduce their stress-levels. Then again...
To be fair, I also like to don a high vis and point at a 150/2.

I hadn't seen a notification about this thread having new posts, but thankfully I thought to look.

A special offering for Valentine's day

We have but one hour remaining until this thread switches, from this month's theme back to "any realistic railway / train image".
However, my wife tells me that I arrive too early. So, here are the first post-theme images.

Ends Wells - a steam-hauled leg is over and the diesel-hauled Pullman departs; as City of Wells, having backed down in the bay platform, takes a well-earned breather.
Day off - shift's end, the locos are switched off, the Christmas Eve team can now relax.
All the hit singles - scenic single track lines. That mixed-livery 156 recalls 1989's and 1990's Haymarket depot "hybrids".
Beast from the East - imspired by my past few days in Kraków (Poland) and the remaining Soviet-era Konstal 105Na trams.

A sign of the times, or backwards decision-making. Here we see a scene that is commonplace throughout the UK. Though some may wonder why the sign was not replaced by a metal equivalent, it appears that there is a line drawn on money wasting somewhere. The Branchline Society obviously have not visited for a while.

Where's the junction? I can only see plain line (and Buddleia)! ;)
