Landslip has occurred near the exit to Woolley Tunnel on the up line (Towards Barnsley) closing the lines between Wakefield Kirkgate and Barnsley for today and at least tomorrow

Northern are diverting via Wakefield Westgate & Moorthorpe on most services whilst buses run Wakefield Kirkgate - Meadowhall

Down trains towards Leeds are unaffected today for now

West and South Yorkshire train services affected by landslide

The incident, in a cutting near Woolley Tunnel, near Darton, was reported on Wednesday.

Train services in South and West Yorkshire have been affected following a "slow-moving" landslip near a tunnel in Barnsley.

Network Rail said work is ongoing "round the clock" to stabilise the area and to get trains safely running again.

The incident, in a cutting near Woolley Tunnel, near Darton, was reported on Wednesday and services between Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield and Lincoln have been affected.

Both lines shut tomorrow for recovery work. Looks like a Sheffield Barnsley shuttle. Both fast services running Lincoln/Nottingham to Sheffield only. The Yorkshire Flyer taking the strain for fast services for Northern.

Passengers at Normanton advised to get TPE to Wakefield or Castleford and connect. @yorksrob will be thrilled.

It's a shame, but understandable, that the 'Flyer' was cancelled, given that it needs time to find it's feet, grow a market, I'd been looking forward to trying it for the first time, see what passenger numbers were like

Given the cancellations (inc Lincoln trains only running as far as Sheffield), I ended up on the Castleford stopper, which diverted after Kirkgate up the hill to Westgate where it didn't open it's doors, reversed there and ran non stop to Meadowhall, which was only a minor delay compared to running all stops via Barnsley

Darton passengers were told to get a RRB from Kirkgate, Barnsley/ Chapletown etc passengers were told to either change at Meadowhall or to stay on the DMU since it was going to run to Barnsley next (I don't know whether all did that or just mine), so a journey of Leeds - Castleford - Kirkgate - Westgate - Swinton - Meadowhall - Sheffield - Meadowhall - Barnsley. Quite the tour of Yorkshire for any affected passengers!

I hope the boys and girls in Orange are able to rectify things today, at least it looks marginally better weather today for being stuck out there on the line

Unfortunately it's now looking like the end of the day tomorrow (Friday) before the line fully reopens again

Not the first time the line has been b******d around Darton on Friday 13th. And, given there's a weather warning out for tonight, I hope the works go well. Looks like I'll be postponing my return to Cumberland until the beginning of next week

The Flyer... is is actually any quicker than going via Barnsley? I took a slow train from Sheff to Leeds the other week (not the really slow Penistone one) and i thought it was much the same?

Yes the flyer is quicker by 10 minutes.

Well like the landslip the date of reopening has slipped again now due to reopen 04:00 tomorrow (Saturday)
