Hi, I am travelling tomorrow from London to Yate and need to take the 05:23 from London Paddington - Filton Abbey Wood before changing onto a service from there to Yate.

I was looking for a travelcard ticket so that I could use the bus to get to Paddington, but I couldn't find anything, so maybe I should just use Oyster.

Please let me know if there is anything I'm missing or if I should just get split ticket advances.

Thanks in advance.

The bus is only £1.75 on its own so the advances are going to cost less. Try www.trainsplit.com.

Technically a Yate - London Zones 1-6 Day Travelcard is available but it's almost £300.

He's outwards TO Yate in the morning, though, so if he did this he'd not be able to get back to the zones on the same ticket would he?

05:23 is a service via Bath, and there is a 5 minute connection at Filton Abbey Wood.

If it helps can use GWR Bristol area PAYG, from Swindon to Yate, if you had the smart card it would have been £15.20 for peak single on PAYG. But you wouldn't be able to touch in at Swindon.

The Anytime single fare for Swindon to Yate is £29.10 (Per PAYG fare tables for non smart card holders) So consider splitting your tickets

I bought an advance to Filton for £25 and will do PAYG for the remainder of the journey. I think that's probably easiest.

I don't think a return journey was needed, but indeed you're quite correct.

Have you got a compatible card for the Bristol pay as you go area?
