Basel Airport to Uberlingen Bodensee

What is the best route to take between the above? I know that the Airport has a frequent bus service to Basel SBB as have used this in the past. What are the options from there? I was considering going through Germany rather than via Zurich but cannot find any details of trains or prices. I will be travelling on 29th May. Many thanks for any assistance you can give.

Where are you looking? Various journeys listed (with prices) on DB Navigator App from Basel SBB to Uberlingen via Zurich. Try putting a "via" in after looking at a rail map if you want to go on a particular route - but then there may not be a through ticket so you may have to purchase two.

Tickets seem to start at €49.99.

There is a hourly service Basel Bad to Uberlingen - through train on the odd hour; change at Singen on the even hour.

Train or tram Basel SBB to Basel Bad.

Many thanks. That is the route I was trying to look up as it looks to be cheaper than travelling via Zurich only I could not find it on the db website for some reason.

There is currently a direct train from Basel Bad to Überlingen yes, but from 26 April 2026 the line between Rheinfelden(Baden) and Erzingen(Baden) will close completely for electrification with reopening planned for early 2027.

So unless you fancy rail-replacement buses you need to go via Switzerland. After reopening, there will be no direct train for likely a decade, as the Radolfzell-Friedrichshafen bit won't electrify yet.

Fare via the (mostly) German route would have been 25,10€ for a bwEINFACH single or 28€/35€ for a off-peak/peak rover (Baden-Württemberg-Ticket or bwTAG)

How about going to Konstanz and then taking a ferry across Bodensee to Überlingen. It's very scenic!
