Apparently 047s TCU blew and shorted 750v to the body which it didn't appreciate. No idea about 041.

I know Merseyrail have taken alot of criticism for short forming 8 car peaks but you have to feel sorry for them when Stadler can’t fix a brand new unit they built for nearly 2 years. Big questions about the maintenance contract need to be asked there

Shame they didn't take the time to oil/grease the footplate between the last two carriages on 007 - unit has been unusually squeaky since just after entering service and it remains so!

I believe only one of the roads in the maintenance shed at Kirkdale depot allows access to the roof of the units, where a lot of the equipment is on a 777. I wonder if this limits maintenance?

Does any maintenance of the 777s take place at Birkenhead North depot?
I notice, it's not uncommon to find a unit on this depot for a period of time, suggesting some form of maintenance must be taking place.

Only light maintenance at Birkenhead North although 2 of the roads there are meant to be getting converted to allow heavy maintenance on the 777s

Do periodic heavy cleans (PHCs) take place at Birkenhead North depot or at Kirkdale depot?
I know the original plan was for North depot to be the focus for cleaning of the units.

That might explain why some units have seats spaced from the sidewall and some don't - if it wasn't specified then each has done what it thought best using the same kit of parts and seat map.

Seem to think that the odd ones were Poland because Odd and Poland both have an O in them and the even ones were Switzerland because Even and Switzerland have an E in them. It is on here somewhere but in the entry to service thread when they first started to come out. Thought it was amazing how someone thought about the letters and locations and came up with it!

Got on a West Kirby train at Hamilton Square yesterday with the end and side displays showing Liverpool Central and the on-board announcement saying 'This train is for Liverpool Central, the next station is Moorfields', however, once on the move, the PIS were showing the correct information and the correct announcements.

The two factories also inexplicably ended up with incompatible software builds (and wiring) so they could not work in multiple with each other.

The first three pilot production units used to set up the production line and for testing were built at the old Stadler plant at Altenrhein in Switzerland. The production line was then moved to the new plant at St. Margrethen and the even numbered units from 004 were built there (as were all the /1s) . The odd numbered /0s from 005 onwards were built at Siedlce in Poland

777 051 is in platform 1 at Hooton at the moment with a tree branch impaling the leading bogie air bag. Not sure how what seems like quite a small branch got shoved there thick end first...

It seems that long out of service 777004 has moved from where it had been dumped at Kirkdale. Perhaps a return to service is imminent?

From the looks of the previous posts, it might be getting one if it's bogies christmas tree'd to replace the one on 051 with a chunk of tree through it.

Seems a unit had a weird wrong-side door release issue at Southport on Sunday night. From the Liverpool Echo:-
Passengers were told to get off a train last night (Sunday, February 1) due to an issue with the doors. A commuter, who asked not to be named, told the ECHO he and around 30 others got on board the 11.18pm service from Southport to Liverpool Central.

However, he and others soon noticed that all of the doors facing the electrified track in Southport station kept opening and closing. The doors leading on to the platform were not affected.

Merseyrail has confirmed it is aware of the incident and will be supporting a full investigation into what happened. The commuter said: "As we got on the train, the doors on the non-platform side started closing, then opening, then closing again.

"It was happening for about two to three minutes. I'm autistic so it threw me off a bit.

"Once the train guard got there, they were quick to act. The train guard just said he’d never experienced it before.

"They got everyone off and cancelled the service.

"Luckily there was another train on the platform, so they switched us to that one."

The passenger praised the quick response of Merseyrail staff but is concerned that it could happen again in the future. He said: "The train guard was absolutely brilliant. It’s an issue that they’re letting passengers on board.

"I know there's been previous issues with the trains. I worry in close spaces as it is, so to see the doors opening straight on to the track was worrying.

"If that happened at 5pm when people are crammed up against the doors, you'd be going up against the live track."

When the ECHO approached Merseyrail, Stephen Dodd, chief operating officer at Merseyrail, said: “We are aware of an incident that was reported onboard a train at Southport station last night.

"Passenger safety is our priority, and we take reports of this nature very seriously.

"We are working closely with Stadler, our train maintainer, to understand what happened and to support a full investigation.”

From reading the article, it sounds like the doors were actually repeatedly opening and closing rather than just arming - ie the door test cycle. I know the technicians use this function and i've seen videos of it in use on the depot from a friend of mine who works at Kirkdale. It repeatedly opens and closes the doors in rapid succession and the sliding steps also slide in and out in sync with it. I don't know how its activated - quite concerning that its happened on a train with passengers onboard leading directly onto the live rails!

Surely the whole fleet should be stopped to test and investigate this? Imagine if it happened at an open station or in rush hours in the tunnels and someone fell
