Heathrow Piccadilly closed, contactless refund for Elizabeth fare difference?

Piccadilly Line: No service between Hounslow Central and Heathrow Terminals and SEVERE DELAYS between Hounslow Central and Acton Town while we fix a signal failure at Hatton Cross. Tickets are being accepted on London Buses and Elizabeth line services. GOOD SERVICE on the rest of the line.

So I'd normally do contactless, £3.60 to Hatton Cross (Z1-5 off-peak), then free from Hatton X to Heathrow.

I need to pick someone up now, so 3 x £3.60 = £10.80

Due to above closure, I'll pay £16.90, and the person I'm meeting £13.90, an extra £20.

Can I claim this back?

My understanding is that paper tickets are accepted, but there is no discount for contactless fares, and no procedure for part refunds.

A Travelcard is £16.60 and would be valid on Elizabeth Line normally, while paper singles for LU - which are being accepted on EL - would be £7 each way, so there should be no need to pay £16.90

Probably not, but the LU POMs at the underground station nearby will sort you.

As yorkie states, it is not TfL's policy to refund extra contactless fares incurred in situations like this.

There's no scenario where you'd pay £16.90 though; the Z1-6 daily cap is £16.30.

Final option coming to mind is to take a red bus to Hayes & Harlington or some other convenient railhead.
