Hello. First post here. I applied for future opportunities with GTR back in June and fast forward to December they sent me and email inviting me to do mini SCAAT test (passed) and no have invited me to the OPC in Watford for assessments. Can anyone give me some insite on what to expect ? Will I be having an interview the same day if I pass the tests ?

Did you apply for a specific role? Trainee Train Driver?
When I was provided a date for Stage One assessment and assessment pack I emailed the recruitment contact directly for a summary of what to expect in the session (4 hours) and they broke down what assessments that would be held in that session!

I originally applied for trainee train driver future opportunities at Victoria in June but because I’m already in work I didn’t hear back as the job was for people out of work. They then sent me an email saying “ we will be considering all applicants for standard Trainee Driver future opportunities.” But it’s for Hornsey depot. Can you share what they emailed you back saying ?

For the TOC I applied for they said the stage one would incorporate the below -
Attention (Group Bourdon)
Attention (TEA-Occ)
Memory (TRP1b)
Reasoning (TRP2)
Driver Fault Finding (DFFT)
But each TOC will have different ways of holding their assessments. Best to wait for your prep packs to come through and search this thread for tips and links to practise sheets!

Hello. I have recently been successful in my application to Northern as a trainee train driver. I have my assessment day coming up in the next couple of weeks and a face to face interview, should I pass the assessment.
Has anyone been through this process recently with Northern and can advise what the process was? What questions are likely to come up on the interview?

Hello , I have an assessment for southeastern for customer service opportunities coming up in Ashford. Does any one know if you pass the tests and role play do you have a interview at the assessment centre? Then if you pass all of that do you have an interview at the station Faversham with a manager?

Yeah they very much considered all applicants they were happy with but didn't have a career break for other future vacancy for GN Hornsey. Assessment in a couple of days I guess? What I can say is check the prep pack they sent which did include both stage 1 and stage 2 assessments anyway. This what I think (not certain but makes sense), IF your booking for your assessment date indicated 4hrs assessment time, then there's no way you can do both stage 1&2 with MMI all in 4hrs, so you deffo will sit for just stage 1 which includes Attention (Group Bourdon), Attention (TEA-Occ), Memory (TRP1), Reasoning (TRP2), Driver Fault Finding Test.

Does anyone have any information on the GTR assessment centre? I have an assessment on Monday for their Engineering Apprenticeship and I'm trying to work out how to prepare. Also, I've disclosed I have dyslexia, how do they accommodate for that?
Can someone help me - Yesterday I failed Stage 2 of the Assessment Centre for GA. Failed the joystick computerised test. I had previously failed enhanced standard at Stage 1 with Avanti in Dec 2023 but passed national. So now I have 2 failed attempts at stage 1 and stage 2 of the assessment centre. 1st on3 was prior to Dec 2024. So does that mean I have blown my two attempts l. The assessor yesterday told me I have to wait for 1 year and reapply and have to only do that 1 computerised test but he didn't know about my previous failed attempt. I am absolutely gutted and feel like a total failure. It's not great if I don't have any more chances

The new rules only apply to those who haven't taken the tests before they came in.

From my understanding you've got 1 more chance left because you've only completely failed with GA but you might only be able to apply for TOCs who accept the national scores.
Being as your first test was before the guidelines changed you'll have to wait 6 months to try again.

It depends on what tests the TOCs use. I failed the SJT twice in 2023 and 2024 with Arriva and thought this was my 2 lives gone but then I applied for Chiltern a couple months ago and surprisingly was invited to the assessment centre. Then after researching I found out that Chiltern don’t use the SJT so that’s why I was invited with them so I have 2 lives with Chiltern.Can someone help me - Yesterday I failed Stage 2 of the Assessment Centre for GA. Hey guys, thought i’d share my journey from start to finish with Greater Anglia for anyone that has also applied. For trainee depot driver role.
May 2025- applied online & sat the tests, passed
August 2025- Sat my stage 1, had to do fault finding, crossing out dots (the key is accuracy, not speed! don’t rush it, they know its impossible to finish 4 pages in the given time) & also listened to some noises on the speaker & counter high pitched and low pitched noises (multitasking). Got confirmation I passed this 27th August
September 2025- My stage 2 was booked, received an invite 2 days after passing my stage 1. Stage 2 was a bit more tough as I was not prepared, first 3 excercises were easy, the first one you had to just sit at a computer and stare at the screen, and press a button every time the black box would flash grey, tested concentration. Done this for 30 mins straight. Second exercise was briefly shown an image on the computer screen and had to select what you saw. Third one was controlling a ball through a maze, but it tested your hand coordination, was very sensitive i must say. After passing all three, I had an interview, the MMI. was not aware there would be an interview the same day! Anyways, they help you out a lot as it is, just ask you questions like have you ever gone above & beyond, name a time where safety was important etc. They prod you and ask questions like what was the outcome, how did it make you feel, etc. Lasted over a hour and a half
September 2025- 2 weeks after doing the stage 2 assessments received confirmation that I passed
December 2025- invitation for DMI
January 2026- Attended DMI, manager was really cool, nothing like the MMI at all. Far more relaxed, just a chance to get to know each other. Couple things he asked me was 1) what I knew about the company 2) safety questions again 3) Time where I was under pressure. There was 10 questions total and it was really relaxed.
January 2026 3 days later- Confirmed that passed & onboarding begins. Medical booked in, dbs check done & right to work request sent.
January 2026-7 days from attending DMI went to do medical, medical was a bit tough, checked eye sight, hearing, mobility, ECG, blood pressure & also urinated in a cup for drugs test. Passed the medical except for drugs test had to wait for results from lab.
January 2026- 7 days after completing medical, received my official offer & onboarding began, sent me contract & filled out some details. Start date 23rd Feb training.
Keep at it guys, i’ve been applying since 2022 & never had a chance to attend the assesments as i’ve always been busy or away, keep applying & you’ll be successful!

Afternoon all, I'm returning for my 2nd attempt at the train driver psychometric soon, and I wondered if anyone who's been recently has the 6 scenario-based questions noted down from the MMI that they're currently asking please? Any advice would be great! Thanks.
A time where you have had to deal with an emergency or pressurised situation?
A time where you have had to follow strict rules and procedures?
A time where you have had to persevere whilst learning something/A time where you were on a course for 2 weeks.?
A time where you have demonstrated skills similar to that of a train driver?

Evening all, I appreciate this may be a how long is a piece of string question but - today I’ve had confirmation that I’ve passed the stage 1 and 2 OPC assessments.
Does anyone who works for WMR have an idea of how long you might be waiting for the DMI invite at all?
Just looking for past experiences with them just to get an idea of how long I might be waiting (hopefully not too long) happy just to hear ball park figures.
