Penalty fare notice for forgetting railcard.

Hi, im new here so i really do apologise if i say anything wrong or miss out or sound repetitive.
Today i got on a train and forgot my under 19s railcard from Shipley to Leeds. I bought an open return ticket yesterday and I said i have a railcard (as i do) but i forgot it today as its usually in my bag for school but its a saturday so i didnt bring it, i didnt make this connection until i was asked to show it and as i dont have it with me i was given a penalty fare for "No Supporting Documentation" and was wondering if i could appeal. Becuase i have the card with me now as im home and i did buy valid tickets how would i write the appeal if i can appeal it as i dont really have £55.50 and i have valid train tickets and an in date railcard i just forgot it, i dont want to sound rude or entitled when appealing like would i ask them to cancel it or does that come with the appeal?? sorry if thats an obvious question but ive never been fined as ive never had an issue providing my railcard.

You need to appeal under the forgotten railcard policy (note you can only invoke this once per year). The appeal should succeed if you provide evidence of a railcard that was valid at the time of, and for, the journey you were making.

I’d suggest just going ahead with that appeal on your own and coming back to us if it isn’t successful so we can help you with the second stage of appeal, but you’re welcome to write a draft for the first appeal and send it here for us to review if you like

Not sure but the appeals service are so incompetent that even if the answer is no it’s worth a go.
