After securing the Waterloo-Salisbury-Exeter route, GWR TOC procures a small batch of 3-Car IET sets to replace an ageing SWR class 158/159 fleet. These compact IET sets feature a malachite green scheme, in homage to the route's heritage.

Here, one on test passes a class 387 branded as GWV (Great Western Value - think MegaBus on rails) en route to Bristol.
And reaching the logical conclusion... Coming soon to the Cotswolds:

The IET livery reminds me very much of the original Hull Trains colours, even though very different.

Pleased to see that you've extended the wires way past Westbury! :)

To extend the life of rolling stock, engineers resort to 'cut and shut' techniques:

I like that reference to Didcot; that's something that Gemini decided on, not part of a prompt from me.

First, a non-AI image:

This 'clockwork' Western was spotted needing someone to wind it up in Cambridge in 1990.

Inspired by that, I tried an AI version. I'm really no good with textual prompts:

However, I do like the loco name, a missed opportunity if ever I saw one, "Western Region". Believe it or not, that thing stuck out of the nose is supposed to be a winding key.

The toy manufacturers had to get their inspiration from somewhere.

Here we see another bimode that has limited use:

Marvellous creations there @Topological and @pdeaves 8-)
Today, Gemini has decided it doesn't want to give me a class 40...
Has Scotland invaded Poole?

Not sure how tempting it is to get one in at t'Thrush and Crabs when waiting for a class 40 to turn up.

I was trying to get a railway parody out of the Hormoaning EP I couldn't muster any
I recall you posted a picture of a lady outside a suburban terminus who seemed to be complaining so much about the litter that a man was trying to pay her to shut up. Too far back in the mists of AI threads now though.

Slightly indulgently I have done In Bloom. Much more family orientated.

Dirty Daphne certainly leaves an impression.

I brought things a little more up to date with a Foo Fighters inspired image. However, there are two Nirvana songs referenced for good measure.

I fear that if we were to be doing a theme around music, some of the best images are getting used up. The problem would be that these are mad images. I mean when did you last see a rabbit stacking batteries. Everyone knows rabbits are battery-powered and that their batteries are so durable they do not need a cell full.

I must also commend @High Dyke on an excellent photo of Catwoman. Clearly Dik-Dik are getting on board with superhero marketing too.

Learn to Fly, Lithium and Heart Shaped Box...

I step into film-noir and I think I know who's behind pasty-larceny and a very recent act of putting the class 69 fleet stored-serviceable*.
As Matrix Reloaded's Agent Smith observed: The best thing about being me... There are so many "me"s.

* The class 69 thread has more on this topic. Even film noir TV news teams resort to "stock" pictures. Hence they show class 56 and hope no-one knows.

Time for a rail-ale trip to the Alps.

Spookily the AI produced a very plausible barcode which I took the precaution of blurring out, just in case it has developed a misplaced sense of artificial mischief.

Thank you for blurring out the barcode. If I accidentally walk past a self-service checkout I do not want to be accused of not placing the item in the bagging area.

"A realistic photo of a class 08 diesel shunter removing an intercity liveried class 31 from its passenger train at Glasgow Central station on a wet march day"

Well...

Looks like Gemini is having some issues as about the only thing we have close is that it is wet!

Interesting how Google's "free" instance uses very different algorithms + rendering (Nano Banana), vs its "subscription" version (Nano Banana Pro).
The latter mostly does convincing renders for British outline diesel and electric locos (although class 87s seem too hard for it).

Here are recent images generated of British Rail's 'blue-era' locos. Lots of other classes on that thread, too. :)
