SJ Swedish Trains Website - Two different times when booking

Hi,

Quick background for this - going to Poland for some ferries, but my return trip to Stockholm has been cancelled. Since flight has been booked, I have to take different ferry to Karlskrona, which is in a long way from Stockholm. I arrive at 07:00, and there is a bus to the station at 07:20, leaving outside the terminal. With a connecting train. To save time / confusion, I am trying to book the ticket online (much prefer a "real" physical ticket, but really can't miss this train!

Anyway, I am on the SJ.se website, and the ticket option shows two different train times when I attempt to book it

Any idea whats happening? Which is the correct time?

Also I'm sure I saw on Google this train journey got me there at 13:36 - my Flight is at 16:30 so this is cutting it fine! (and this is still t central, not including the trip to Arlanda)

Also, is this a specific train ticket? Could I try and make the 08:48 if possible? I'm running pretty late and used to aiming for tight trains!)

The times on the overview are correct, the travel details are incorrect. Please complain to SJ.
In case you didn't know, the ferry company has to propose an alternative without extra costs and you may be eligible for compensation for delay, depending on your delay on arrival in Stockholm and the cause of the cancellation. The ferry company may want you to cancel, but if you do that, then they don't have any obligations anymore. You can get a refund after the travel date, if you still want that.

The ferry timetable changed, and my sailing is now overnight on the Sunday, rather than overnight Saturday. the company has already said they would give me a refund for the cancelled sailing, so that's good.

That's a 24-hour delay, in which case you have the same rights. They have to offer a choice between a refund and re-routing at the earliest opportunity without extra costs. And of course you may still be entitled to compensation for delay.

This would then be the 9:48 train from Hässleholm C. I would not count on a 4 minute connection, but there is a chance you can make it. However tickets for SJ highspeed trains are with reservations for specific trains, so you would need to buy another ticket for this train. It needs to be bought before departure, you cannot buy a ticket from staff on the train.

Looking at the SJ app there is also a Snälltoget train at 10:05 from Hässleholm to Stockholm C 14:17. It might not be an official connection in Hässleholm from Karlskrona, so that might be why SJ does not show this connection. But 21 minutes should be enough to change trains.

The 7:48 train from Karlskrona goes directly to Copenhagen Airport, arriving at 10:58 for about SEK 370. You might consider if it is worth it to change your flight from Stockholm to Copenhagen, or to buy a new plane ticket from Copenhagen.

The one hour error in the timings will be a bug in the software. Interesting that part of the display is correct, part is wrong, suggesting that different people have done the coding, using different function calls.

For info, EGTRE https://www.egtre.info/wiki/Sweden_-_General_Information#Journey_Planner suggests using https://resrobot.se/ as the best Swedish journey planner, note I know that this text was written by a Swedish resident and train expert. I've just re-run the OP's query on sj.se (incorrect details) and on resrobot.se (correct details).


There's a similar problem with the ADIF (Spanish railway infrastructure manager) website and app when you use them to look at station departure and platform details, the train times are always one hour 'out' when viewed in the UK.

Thanks vey much everyone. Getting more confused - looking at resrobot, its not showing the earlier journey at all? The first journey from Karlskrona to Hassleholm is the 08:48? Which gets me there too late. Could go for the Bus (is this an actual bus or a coach? Its about a 2hrs 30 journey!) I guess, thoguh not sure where you het the tickets from?

I would say that this is your best choice to get to Stockholm. The question is if it gets you to the airport in time for your flight.

So just to show what happened in the end...

Booked onto the Snälltåget . I wen t through all the possible issues that may arrive... I just didn't factor in a late bus! The bus was there when we got off the ferry, but wouldn't let us board until a few minutes before its scheduled departure. Boarding seemed to take forever and ended up running ten minutes late, which never got caught up because the buss stop button kept getting pushed by accident. Ended up arriving two minutes after the Snälltåget coach had left...

Looked at prices of emergency flights... eye watering! So made a risk... booked a ticket to Hassleholm on the local train, then X2000 service to Stockholm... with the four minute connection. I knew it was risky, but was my only option to not miss the flight.

Got to Hassleholm a good few minutes before and made the connection, and the flight (with about ten minutes to spare!)

Interestingly, despite SK not selling "direct" tickets due to the connection time, the train guard actually announced it, telling people where to go to pick the service up!

Very expensive late bus! Not sure why I got put in the pet area either! Nice train though, glad I got to experience it
