IM are recruiting currently. Seems odd when there's t&Cs to be sorted one the takeover happens. I'd have expected them to bung more £ and rip up the IM existing contract snd start again THEN recruit.

That would need to be a seriously high ££££ offer, once lost the T&C's will obviously never be seen again.

We accept being the lowest salaried mainline drivers because of the T&C being very very strong.

It's basically work life balance.

We get a 13 week roster and cannot be moved from booked jobs without agreement. Gives you a the ability to plan ahead and have a life. Various incentives to move jobs is needed too.

With the HH side splitting off and losing a lot of drivers to IM is it reasonable to think that HH will be recruiting in the new year for replacements?

HH didnt lose alot of drivers, IM took a dozen volunteers IM needed that would have been surplus. It still doesnt supply the full amount IM need so its IM that will be recruiting not HH. Most of the IM locations have been up for qualifieds, Tilbury/Gateway, Mossend, Leeds, Birmingham, Eastleigh have all been up this year and likely will more. Their plans are..vast. HH have Suffolk up, in relation to the Sizewell project. Few people I know have interviewed for it.

Oh okay that's probably better for me then, fingers crossed. I'm in for Crewe and I know they had an ad up for qualified drivers too.

The 12 you mention were only from Crewe, there were more from other depots too that have gone over.

And yet that’s a topic that bubbles along just under the surface in these forums. I’m sure people have seriously suggested there should be far more rail distribution to supermarket sidings, and every time others have responded that it just wouldn’t work.
At the beginning of the century, freight multiple units like MPV were intended to be applied to similar scenarios to improve the flexibility of rail freight. But obviously, nothing more was heard of it after that.

Several times the 12 in total and in fact

My appologies. The literature I saw regarding TUPEd guys mentioned 12. Just been told by one of my old colleagues at HH he requested the switch but wasnt granted mind you so doesnt seem like getting people was much of an issue. Albeit in the southern end. Bham is up now so I’m assuming there’s still a couple of gaps to fill.

All done and dusted now. Have to say quite like the new HHR scheme! A white logo  a cheeky way to keep the green scheme.. website styling is quite nice though!

Despite CMA CGM purchasing the Freightliner name, I imagine the Freightliner business will go through another rebrand. Freightliner's current house black and orange colours, and logo, are those of former parent company Genesee and Wyoming, but is no longer owned by them, so I think the colours and logo might change to something new.

Ironically, HHR now has a unique brand, with the green colour of Freightliner as it were pre-G&W acquisition, but is still associated with G&W through shared ownership by Brookfield Corporation.

Another question from me... possibly slightly related to post 110.

So Intermodal I believe is the container trains?

What would Heavy Haulage be?

Correct.

What would Heavy Haulage be?

Off the top of my head...

- aggregate (overwhelmingly from the Mendips and Peak District, but also a handful of
oddball flows from Tytherington, Machen, Moreton on Lugg, etc.)

- cement from Earles/Tunstead

- sand from Middleton Towers to Ince and Elton.

- binliners from Greater Manchester to Runcorn/Ferrybridge

- imported gypsum from Southampton/Tees Dock

- HS2 tunnel segments from Hartlepool

- departmental services from Doncaster to Toton and Crewe

All sorts, really!

The plan for a while was to utilise the 70’s on the Tunstead stone trains. They’re also supposed to be training Southern based drivers on them for that reason. That was the main initial plan, obviously operational needs, availability and other things change.
