Update: Fire damage to a tunnel affecting TransPennine Express services
Network Rail repairs to Standedge Tunnel are continuing although it is likely that the through route will remain closed until the morning of Thursday 29th January. TransPennine Express services therefore remain affected until further notice, with services where possible diverted over the Calder Valley or operated by rail replacement buses.
TransPennine Express train services for the affected part of the network on Tuesday 27th January will operate in both directions as outlined below (this includes amendments to those that operated today):
- York - Scarborough
- Leeds – Hull
- Liverpool Lime Street – Manchester Victoria calling additionally at Newton-le-Willows
- Liverpool Lime Street – Newcastle (this service will not call at Newton-le-Willows)
- Manchester Airport – Middlesborough (this service will not call at Redcar Central or Saltburn)
- Manchester Piccadilly – Greenfield calling at Stalybridge and Mossley (limited AM and PM peak service)
- Marsden – York via Wakefield Kirkgate (limited AM and PM peak service)
- Rail replacement services will operate on the following routes:
- Stalybridge-Huddersfield calling at Mossley, Greenfield, Slaithwaite and Marsden
- Huddersfield-Manchester Piccadilly calling at Marsden, Slaithwaite, Greenfield, Mossley and Stalybridge
- Dewsbury-Huddersfield
- Huddersfield-Dewsbury
- Customers at Huddersfield are advised to travel to Dewsbury and connect into train services towards Leeds and Manchester
- Customers at Manchester who require Huddersfield are advised where possible to travel from Manchester Victoria and alight at Dewsbury and transfer to the rail replacement services from there to Huddersfield
- Customers at Leeds who require Huddersfield are advised to go via Sheffield or alight at Dewsbury and board the rail replacement services provided
Service running will be monitored and reviewed through the day with amendments made if required. Services may therefore be cancelled, part cancelled or operate at short notice. Customers are advised to check the status of their service before travelling.
Ticket acceptance remains in place with Northern, CrossCountry, EMR, LNER and Metrolink as follows:
- Northern (between Huddersfield and Sheffield, Leeds and Sheffield and Huddersfield/Mirfield and Leeds)
- CrossCountry (between Leeds and Sheffield)
- EMR (between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly/Liverpool Lime Street)
- LNER (between York and Doncaster)
- Metrolink (between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria/Manchester Airport)
