In a discussion elsewhere about Oxford and the issues surrounding traffic at the station and the congestion charge/bus gates, and it occurred to me - why not do what was done for Cambridge? We obviously already have Oxford Parkway for those heading towards the Chiltern route, but this isn't the main service to London nor is it served by XC etc, nor does it have convenient connections to the Westcountry etc unless you make an extra change at Oxford.
So should there be an Oxford South Parkway built? I think it would make a lot of sense to construct this nearthe Botley interchange Redbridge P&R, ideally adjacent to and combining function with the existing Park and Ride site. It could have all trains stopping and basically divert all the park and ride and "kiss and ride" rail use for services to London and services to the north not relevant to the present Oxford Parkway away from the busy city centre?
