That is this one:
Sorry if I ruined the Peter Kay video, but please do not worry.
It slowly dawned on me* that Peter Kay's Comic Relief skit featured Sid's back ginnel shortly before he demolished it, to expand his yard beside the steam MPD**.

* Akin to that awful slow dawning, as one realises their very wet flatulence wasn't solely air...

** For others' info, this backstory is linked here and the post below it too

Sorry if I ruined the Peter Kay video, but please do not worry. No turbostars were hurt in the making of the video.

Also if anyone was wondering whether sweet Marie has been waiting for a train that can never come, please do not worry. There is a rail replacement bus.
Hmm....nice Tuscan back scene. Podere il Belvedere in the Val d'Orcia, for those who have never been. Not quite sure what the relevance is to the motive power on display though. Are they getting ready to film a TV commercial? ;)

To be fair I just specified British trains on a treadmill.

This is basically what i was going for. Though I can see more reason to choose Parky and Ronnie Corbett than the trains selected by NanoBanana for my image. I realise I should have just done green screen and hoped it did not pick a green train ;)

Meanwhile, with all the realistic talk of crabs on the other thread, there has been an invasion on here. Early experiments in haulage are having mixed results. Whilst there is clear potential, there is a lot of light engine work going on. Some concern is felt about the training course for train managers in this new world. The lack of a driver also means that the government are wondering why so much was squandered fitting DOO cameras to the pincers. The railway will be looking to claw some of that money back.

Very good! You beat me to the crustaceans gag! :D
Following an unexpected policy intervention, the requirement to constantly rebuild platforms and bus shelters has been solved. The armadillos have been called in. Armadillos are more appropriately sized, do not always require to line up with the track, and can pull EMUs far from the juice.

The introduction of armadillos to front line service has also massively cleared up the nations crabs.

My mid-1970s youth included Action Man toy soldiers and Hornby's "just-released" InterCity 125 model train. I used to imagine my Action Men climbing and descending my HST's cab front. Well...

Shades of The Beano's General Jumbo and his army of remote-controlled model soldiers.

This toy story won't have a happy ending...
You had some pretty impressive model railways as a child. I cannot imagine spending the time to build something as elaborate as that. Did the water even move? That is some impressive varnish work if not.

Most would have looked like this:

Gemini_Generated_Image_wmugzjwmugzjwmug.png

But the challenge for Barbie and Ken is definitely shared by the armadillo in my image.

Only a muppet crams around the exit doors.

Every child's bedroom should be like that. :D

The armadillo will always win - just like the child who always used to beat me at Scissors Paper Stone.

Perfect.

There is equal muppetery on display here as these objects clearly put themselves in mortal danger by being in front of the blue line.

Ah, but they are mainly behind the yellow line.

Meanwhile the Blue Meanies take a journey.
View attachment 196599
You try crossing the blue line though on platform 10 at Manchester Piccadilly. People will swoop as if you were on the track. I go to a part of the platform where the blue line is not there and stand behind the yellow one. I am still here to tell the tale. (For the avoidance of any doubt, platform 10 is in the main shed at Piccadilly and has no through services, fast or otherwise)

I do love these late night images. I suspect the only reason stations get locked at night is because they look like this between 01:00 and 05:00.

If I get you some wire wool, could you knit me a train?

View attachment 196642
Now we know where Northern will be getting their new fleet from. I mean, there is plenty of wool around and wool is more sustainable than wire wool.

The concept of a knitted train is not new. They have been using knitted locomotives on urban branchline trains for a long time.

This narrow gauge train's not knitted, but the passengers certainly are:

Prompt:
[Generate me] a very nice looking LNER British Rail Class 800 Azuma train.

Honestly, it’s a decent image, though I’ve never heard of the railway company LINER. *chuckles*

Their Freight... operations is much better known ;)

What if British Railways' diesel fleet wasn't predominantly Loco Green livery...
Brush Type 4 "Generator" locos here wearing Experimental Express Passenger Ultramarine blue/purple; and Golden Ochre.

The blue 47 looks (to me) like a first take on First livery. A host of 'what if...' scenarios come to mind.
Yep, AI renders make it addictively too easy to create "what-if" liveries. I might try a GWR Bronze-green Western next. :D

I wondered a few times, whether 1948's experimental livery was an inspiration for FirstGroup.
The livery was actually applied to Gresley A4s 60024, 60027, 60028 + 60029 from 1948 to 1950. Here are two AI renders:

I admire the fact that 1P00 is placed strategically over the train potty.

I'd like to see an IET and a 387 in bronze green; I suspect they'll look a lot better than the current rather drab dark green...?

:D Oh yes, that 25/1 and its positioning were deliberate. The Darlington-batch 25/2 in the other image, wanted to drop its "fuel" but it found the contents were 2 BIG....
1S71 is obviously some sort of voyeurs special. Always seem to be there watching rats.

Given all the ramblings on CrossCountry and luggage policies Link to Thread, I thought I would see what was happening out in the field. This image captures much of what is wrong with railways today:

For those who care about such things, note that the seats align very well with the windows and that this does appear to be an 80x derivative.

After securing the Waterloo-Salisbury-Exeter route, GWR TOC procures a small batch of 3-Car IET sets to replace an ageing SWR class 158/159 fleet. These compact IET sets feature a malachite green scheme, in homage to the route's heritage.

Here, one on test passes a class 387 branded as GWV (Great Western Value - think MegaBus on rails) en route to Bristol.
