What would happen if I tried to board a DLR train on platform 10 (and didn't get kicked back off), where would I go?

And can Platform 10 be used for departures if Platform 9 is closed?

You’d end up reversing in the headshunt and arriving on P9.

And yes to the second question!

Interesting question.

Do many people get carried into the turnback siding?

Another user will correct me if I’m wrong - I believe the whole of the DLR network is bi-directional and offers near complete flexibility.

In the world of youtube, I have to admit not seeing any video either by public, enthusiasts or staff showing the reversal into the shunt
I seem to recall a Beano video where he did successfully ride it, though I can only find the failed attempt video now.
Edit: I have found the video, see below.

I've seen a video of him attempting it, but I recall he got kicked off the train by the platform staff.

Have now found it, he did it on the 2nd attempt:

The Seltrac system used on the DLR is indeed reversible, as seen here:

As much as I don't condone all of Beno's content, there is no denying some of it is very interesting!

Same viewpoint as me. At least with his other videos he knows what he's doing and mentions several times to not 'try at home'

True.

I have no interest in lifts, but even some of his lift videos are quite fascinating!

I have been on a train from Shadwell to Bank that arrived at Platform 9. I think this is something they do to make up time when there are slight delays, as there was no infrastructure failure, and I witnessed a train doing the normal procedure as I left. The time savings must be very small though.

Delays on the DLR are so rare that it’s rare to see things like this. I think it must be the most reliable line?

It's entirely contained and entirely automated, so it naturally is very reliable. I don't really think there's a line (in London) of its size as reliable to be honest.
Well i would not call the DLR entirely automated. It is more a semi automation just like the tube. It is no more automated than the tube lines (except the Bakerloo / Piccadilly / W&C lines) are. DLR still has a staff member who operates doors and presses start. The only difference is that they are in the saloon but on the tube they are in the cab. Victoria Line seems to be just as reliable as the DLR and is automated just like the DLR is.

The data shows a 6-year average (18/19-23/24) scheduled services operated % of 98.7% for the DLR and 90.4% for the Victoria line.
