For the big stations I'd say Manchester Victoria (sit in the "beer garden" and get some tram action inches from your pint), York (capital of my homeland after all), Crewe and Preston

For smaller stations I'd say Ribblehead, Buxton, St Bees and Hexham - I am sure there are a few more smaller stations I could mention but I can't recall them

Dent, Ribblehead or Arnside for the views.

Somewhere with a decent cosy pub in winter- Cleethorpes, Sheffield, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Doncaster, Moorthorpe.

Spacious stations with decent railway operational interest- Doncaster, Lancaster, York, Carlisle etc

Hebden Bridge....for the café on platform 2, the heated waiting room with book swap, the piano on the same platform and the interesting mix of passenger and freight traffic passing through!

Cooden Beach - if I'm allowed to go to the bar at the beachfront just outside.

If not, Aberystwyth with the Spoons within.

On a sunny day, somewhere like Corrour. Lay up, read a book, soak those rays.

For different reasons - St Pancras. If it's a long wait, I enjoy family and friends departing or reuniting at the Eurostar entry/exits. Plenty of cafes and bars and a bit of a different style of architecture adds to it.
