Mk1 coach type SD - Saloon Discothèque - does it exist?

Wikipedia is not a good source of information for UK trains, but seeing Saloon Discothèque as a supposedly used British Rail coach makes me curious.

Does anyone on this forum have a copy of the 1991 book British Railways Mark 1 Coaches by Keith Parkin? This is the source the disco carriage supposedly comes from.

In service 1973-76 apparently- unless there’s a widespread April Fool involving (amongst others) the Guardian.

Think it was numbered 2990 - quite why they popped it in the Royal Series I don't know!

I attended a wedding reception on a train with a disco where the DJ still used record players. Energetic dancing kept causing the needle to jump, the DJ was not happy.

Formerly Second Open M3735 with a strengthened floor and door and window openings panelled over. It ran in a semi-permanently coupled set with M3023, 3028 and 3029, which were wired for stereo sound reproduction; 3023 had four colour TV sets and a video recording studio. (All from Parkin.) Longworth has it in use January 1973 to October 1976.

I can remember an article by the sports journalist Michael Green on the League Liner and how one old boy had the time of his life because it was the first time he had seen colour TV.
