of course we don't, but its just as plausible as assuming Arriva has lost!
I'm wondering what the mechanics and painters will do now since the bodyshop is closing at St. Helens? I feel bad for them for losing their jobs unless they get transferred to a other depot or apply for employment somewhere else?

So I seen that someome put in the Dart forum website that the body shop at Arriva's St Helens depot is closing permanently on the 31st of December. Could that be a major hint that Arriva would not continue their operations in St. Helens in September?
The consultation with staff would have had to start before the notification of operators

Not really, I've heard it from some sources that there could be an announcement on 2nd of January which is today or it now could be announced in February
One thing I can assure you of, is that when it is announced, it will be wall to wall coverage all over the place!

There is a lot of chatter on another forum with some rather confident assertions that operators were told on the 19th but without supplying any evidence to back this up. So I would treat it with caution until an official announcement is made.

Yeah, i've read that post on the other forum, the issue is it's still the Festive season, so most including LCR staff & management will be off until Monday with the offices closed, if operators were told on the 19th December, the official announcement will be in the next couple of weeks.

That makes sense since Christmas and New Year are over so it's next week or after that we might hear something.

Is that just for Jackson Street or is it for Laird Street aswell?
It would be for both as St. Helens and Wirral are the first areas to be franchised

Well one of them did say that his boss would inform him about it on the 8th (today) unless it's been delayed? I've not seen anything on the Liverpool City Region website.

As far as I can tell, there's no reference to the X2 (currently Stagecoach, Preston - Liverpool). Does that mean that it's not going to exist any more, or is it out of scope for this - or something else that I haven't thought of?

As I understand it, the X2 is expected to be a 'Permitted Route' (i.e. operated under permit) - not part of the franchise.

I know the bidders had been told - not aware of a delay so that's interesting.
There was a conference call bewteen the big wigs Friday gone to discuss the delay (but it was already known prior that there would be no announcement) which apparently was due to a legal issue and the announcement was deferred for a week. A week is a long time so we shall see.

Expected.

The authority aims for “a minimum of three and maximum of five operators” ending up with the major franchises. It is a possibility the operator with a very clear monopoly has instead walked away with nothing.

Better for the announcement to be delayed rather than it being announced as a complete mess.

Not expected and it was always the possibility that Arriva could end up with nothing. What the nature of the legal issue hasn’t been shared outside the bidder groups

From my view it was pretty expected once you factor in the new ownership. They seem ambitious (investment moves alongside the tiny bus wars).

Some interesting changes here. Some logical, some less so.

Missed opportunities I think are:
Not extending the 345 to Kirkby. Most people in Wadicar are having to walk through to Mount Road then catch the Kirkby Circular (the only thing keeping the Kirkby Circular going in that area is people walking through from Wadicar).
Cut the number of Formby circulars A small town like Formby doesn't need so many circulars. You don't need to cut stops or estates, just the number of route variations.
The 8xx works services should be scrapped and merged into the core bus network given the large amount of duplication.
Cut some of the Maghull Circulars which are now largely carrying fresh air. Especially in the evening. The nonsensical timetable of a rail link bus which doesn't properly link up to the train times is laughable. But even then, the opening of Maghull North means less travellers on the 32/33.

Silly ideas are expanding the 201 (which is already a waste of time, money and effort. Seems to be following a Merseytravel logic similar to that of the Christmas Day network 'If we keep providing it for long enough, eventually someone will get on'. Similarly continuing the links down Great Howard Street are a joke. The current 2 service hardly carries anyone, the Isle of Man terminal bus before that was a waste of time. The 136 hardly picks anyone up that couldn't use another bus service.

• Direct service between Halewood and Whiston Hospital
All well and good promoting a direct service. They don't tell you that it will take 45-60 minutes on the bus to get there though and it only takes 15 minutes in a car.

• A more consistent and customer friendly timetable linking Netherley to Broadgreen Hospital, Alder Hey Hospital, and Liverpool Women’s University Hospital
How can you get more consistent and customer friendly timetable, when there are currently no services? They probably should have mentioned that the 204 is being extended and will benefit from the timetable change. Somewhat positive change, it will be interesting to see if it still served Belle Vale Bus Station or whether it will break interchange links. Consistent timetable is positive, but at what cost?
