I imagine they'll be kept in reserve as planned in case of a short term glut in 701 unavailability, or even 450s, as those seem to be on a lot of suburban diagrams.

Do you know the reason?

Sorry, No. Yesterday 37800 was planned to drag 350404 on 5Q57 from Northampton to Litchurch Lane but that terminated at Nuneaton and the loco ran light to Derby. I am not sure where 37884 is at the moment.

Does anyone know if the 455s are still going to be scrapped in Newport sims or are they going to be scrapped somewhere else as they are being piled up at Derby litchurch lane

Yes. There are multiple units sitting around there on or off the rails. I’m not quite sure which ones but I’m sure @sad1e could tell you.

I wonder if any of the last deliveries are still actually intact at Sims Newport, as work apparently stopped abruptly, anyone know ?
5713 , 5735 , 5738 and 5864 are fully intact at sims Albeit quite mouldy and leaky internally , strangely 63012 from 321338 is also fully intact.

There are partial remains of 5715 , 5718 and 5865 along with 321338 and 342 alongside 466015, 466028, 466029 and 466031 also with only partial remains left.

The 455s are currently going to Derby and then moved by road to a fairly local scrap yerd.

The 455s at Newport goodness knows. They are possibly the property of the administrators for SIMs so not a railway problem.

I’ve read elsewhere that Sims owe the lease company £750k. That suggests a degree of railway problem for the work not done, and possibly other work done but not paid for

The company at Newport that entered administration was actually Unimetals, who were taking over the UK operations of Sims, but the deal fell through when Unimetals were unable to complete the financing. I would imagine that the leasing company are on the long list of Unimetals creditors.

It remains to be seen if those fully intact units might be recovered and moved elsewhere or whether the administors can reactivate the place short term in order to clear the site. Everything on site will be held by the administrators at the moment while actual ownership of the items is confirmed - if they have not been paid for, the complete units might well still be owned by the lease company.

Wonder if 5860 was still there? I’m sure it arrived after 5865 did so might still survive in some form!

Don't think there are any remains of it left, there were only minimal remains of a driving car of 5865 left anyways , 5718 which arrived with 5860 only has one driving car left intact on it's side , rest scrapped.

The order Sims seems to have scrapped rolling stock in is strange as 466015 and 028 were sent there is early september yet are still mostly intact but off the rails on their sides , yet some units like 5860 that arrived Later have been fully disposed of.

Are Networkers that much more difficult to scrap than MK3 based stock ?

The scrap metal is likely to have a different value. A quick search suggests that aluminium is more valuable than steel, but the structure of the two types of train also seems to be different.

In addition to the 5Q70 from Long Marston to Wimbledon Park on Thursday, which presumably is a 701, there is a 5Q94 the following day in the opposite direction. I am guessing that this is for 458529, or perhaps 455s following the recent cancellations of planned transfers to Litchurch Lane.

Interesting thanks. Is 458529 now out of miles?

Seems more likely to be for 458s with some already at Long Marston. The non-drag movements are 5 rather than 0 headcodes which is unusual for 455s and think the 458 moves have previously used barrier wagons rather than just a loco which might explain that.

The Derby to Wembley light loco positioning move has again appeared for Saturday so would expect to the Litchurch Lane path on Monday to appear towards the end of the week. No guarantee it will actually run of course.

This will be 8529. 8535 is also now also out of C6 miles and following hand back work it will follow its classmate to Long Marston if a few months time.

Yes, there is a drag booked for Monday allocated as 5710+5737. As you have already said, whether it runs or not is another matter.
