I know this.....a man from my city probably more associated with Movietone news reels and a voice many will recognise. His name is Lesley Mitchell and there is a blue plaque on his former house in Cumberland St in the city's 'new' town commemorating that he spoke the first words on TV

Musical question next ......

One of John Barry's most memorable works is the "You Only Live Twice" theme, from the eponymous Bond movie.(IMO ruined by Nancy Sinatra's terrible singing in the film titles, but thankfully the instrumental theme recurs through the film and in the end titles)
It is widely recognised for its striking opening bars, featuring a simple 2-bar theme in the high octaves of the violins and lush harmonies from French horns.

Certainly a favourite of mine amongst Barry's lush and beautifully arranged and orchestrated compositions. ("The Girl with the Sun in Her Hair" is another Barry classic, which I think may have been a shampoo ad back in the day)

But whose classical piano concerto was the main YOLT melody lifted from, by Barry's own admission?
