Just wondering if any heritage railways are open in the South East this coming weekend.

Or, indeed, anywhere else!

Many Thanks

Not places in South East England, but the 'Keighley and Worth Valley Railway' in Yorkshire does look to be open this Saturday and Sunday, as is the 'Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway'. The 'Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway' in Cumbria is, however, closed.

We went to the GCR on Sunday 28 December for their "betwixtmas" steam days. It was reasonably well attended and we spent a lovely day on the railway (despite the on-the-day timetable not matching the online timetable).

Not this weekend but Spa Valley Railway (which is in SE England) looks to be open from 17 Jan.

The Nene Valley Railway in Peterborough is running on Sunday 11th, but oddly tickets are no longer available. If you're interested in going there it may be worth a call to them to avoid disappointment

Didcot is open for static viewing, still a good day out. Combine it with a trip to Pendon model railway nearby, that's also open this weekend.

That is a photo charter AFAIK, not a public running day.

Pendon is closed until the 31st January, definitely not open this weekend.
Thank you for reminding me about this place. I went a few years ago, it was fantastic. A revisit is definitely due this year.
